But the food. Here’s what we ordered:
– Hurricane (pricey for a small cocktail)
– Spicy Mango Margarita (tasty and refreshing)
– Garlic Parm Chargrilled Oysters (very pricey for such tiny oysters but they were tasty; when they’re completely covered in garlic butter, you can’t really go wrong, I guess)
– Fried Catfish Po Boy (salty batter but a nice size filet; ordered red beans and rice but they gave us fries by mistake, which they corrected)
– Combo (blackened snapper and fried Gator)…a few things I’ll need to break down with this:
— Need to start off by saying all the food was incredibly salty! It’s obvious management is not reading these reviews because this seems to be a recurring issue.
— The red beans and rice has pork in it, which is common in this style of food but should still be disclosed to customers. I reordered some “Fresh Vegetables” which definitely were frozen and literally had been sitting in a vat of butter. Horrible.
— Gator bites were undercooked in places
— Blackened snapper had a fishy taste to it, which means it was not fresh. Bad sign!
For all of this rather unpleasant food, the prices were insanely high. Everything has a premium price added on top of it. Our meal was over $100 which is incredible for a local seafood spot. Yes, the photos are good but misleading; the food was pretty bad.
Overall, we were very disappointed with our visit to Flaming Joes and don’t plan to return.
Flaming Joes Seafood in Aurora.
To put it simply im never coming back again. I first tried them about 5 years ago and I had a decent experience from the food to the service. I brought my mom and step dad here about 2 years aho and I found out the quality of the food went down. The food took about an hour to be cooked and when we got it the Alligator was RAW (keep reading)! How do you bring out the food late in a restaurant that is not packed and have at least 3 cooks in the kitchen and STIL don’t cook the food fully?!
FAST forward to yesterday… I took my brother to go eat. I got the Ultimate Pho which was very underwhelming with crab shell being in the soup. The little shrimp they used tasted like they were just unfrozen and had a strong bagged salt water punch. The crab meat cheese wontons were made extremely inconsistently with some wontons having no filling at all. Some of the fried Okra was just part of the stem.
My brother got blackened aligator bites, blackened snapper, and Hush Puppies. The Hush puppies he liked but THE ALIGATOR BITES were Raw! (see last photo). I would not recommend going there to eat and if you do go there to eat already I suggest you set the bar higher and find a new seafood spot to eat at.

This place was descent. The atmosphere when you walk in fits the menu for the most part. The bartender wasn’t really that impressive at all when it came to making drinks or knowing what she had in stock. She almost charged me extra for a shot also and I’m not cheap. The food was good but the recommendation of the waitress that the food was really spicy wasn’t true for my taste buds. The waitress seemed to be nice but not sure how genuine the spicy remark really was. The best thing about this place was the cooking. The Crawfish is a must get and they come pre soaked in Cajun seasoning and then you choose your heat flavor. Even if you dont like crawfish I highly recommend trying it here. The head chef is Vietnamese from Louisiana so you can even get pho here (haven’t tried but will next time I’m eating in Aurora)
The alcohol drinks are good. It’s kinda pricey.
My boil was okay however I do have critiques…
MORE BUTTER SAUCE!
I think you guys should consider adding the boil into bags.
my crab legs were kinda cold.
As you walk in you see this nasty fish tank.. clean that!
It doesn’t leave a good impression, especially for first time visitors.
other that the staff so far has been accommodating & friendly
an I look forward to coming back again and seeing improvements.
