I liked the menu and wanted to try it after my hospital visit. It turned out to be one of the best South Asian restaurants among dozens I’ve tried in NYC. For fish enjoyers in particular, you must try the Bengali Fish Korai.

I ordered the Lamb Saag first, a favorite of mine. It’s great. The lamb was very clean-tasting, lean but juicy and tender; the saag creamy, flavorful, and chopped instead of blended so it tasted like a real stew and not a smoothie. No chili was used in the Saag.

The waitress was quiet but very kind and helpful. We spoke about her Bengali culture and cuisine. I still had appetite (I’m a big eater) and loved the Saag, so I ordered the Bengali Fish Korai.

The Fish Korai was one of the best fish dishes I have ever had. As a fan of both fish and Indian food, it’s a rare find in NYC. The spice blend was very fragrant but not overwhelming. Tender shallots were used instead of onions. The salmon was perfectly done and very fresh. The base had a subtle and refreshing lemon flavor, and dices of cooked (but not melted) tomato and fresh herbs added more Mediterranean twists. As someone who cooks fish almost every day, I wish I am this good. Took the chef barely 10 minutes lol.

We were in the UES area and tried out this restaurant by chance. To our pleasant surprise, the food and service were really good! We ordered a samosa chaat (see pic) as an appetizer and chicken vindaloo, butter chicken, and a plain naan, which were all fresh and delicious! Can’t wait to come back and try some other dishes!

I went with a friend tonight and it was delicious! I got the chicken vindaloo and garlic naan and it was perfectly filling. Also, I believe our server was also the cook. She balanced serving us as well as prepping Uber Eats orders really well, all things considered. My only critiques are that the naan is a bit crispy whereas where I’m more inclined to doughy taste, but that’s personal preference. I also wish the naan tasted a bit more garlic-y. 10/10 would absolutely go again though.

Small cozy Halal Indian restaurant in the heart of Spanish Harlem. Nice ambiance, friendly & good service along with flavorful authentic Indian food. I ordered the chicken biryani and tandoori chicken tikka. Both were good.

This is a hidden gem! Personnel is very friendly and food is amazing, I had a Lamb Tikka masala and some veggie samosas (Chaat) that were incredible. Good portions and food is freshly made. They took a little long to serve but it’s worth it. I’ll definitely recommend and get back often.

Great local Indian food! After walking by this place several times with my wife we finally decided to stop by for lunch, I now I have to live with the regret of having discovered this place with only weeks left before we move away from NYC. This place would have definitely become one of our regular neighborhood dinner spots. Food was fresh and perfectly seasoned, veg samosas were perfect, rice nice, flaky and refreshing. Service was nice given we were one of two tables early in the day. Check these guys out this place is unassuming and definitely a sleeper.

We found this East Harlem gem by pure chance. It was a freezing Friday night and the restaurant was completely empty, which usually is a bad sign. But we were cold and hungry and felt that we had no choice but to take a chance on this place. The vibe of the place is quite unique. I told my girlfriend that it felt like walking into a Jim Jarmusch movie, and she agreed. She said, yeah, it’s like the movie Mystery Train. Yes, indeed. Totally spot on – the colors, the mood, everything.
Then the food came, and it was totally amazing. I absolutely love this place. Conclusively, it was the most interesting and satisfying dining experience I’ve had in a long time. I highly recommend this place.

Not a bad place place for desi halal food in the UES. Went in on Sunday night for dinner around 9ish. Butter chicken was good-ish. Paneer fingers were OK. Mango lassi was alright as well ( requested it a bit customized for less sugar). Goat biryani was OK. Meat wasn’t as tender as I hoped for and despite being asked to be least oily, it was still oily. Clay pot lamb tikka was not as tender I was hoping for, even after requesting it in advance. Chai and desert (ras malai and pista kulfi) were good and home made. Not overly sweet. Overall prices are on the higher side and portions are smaller than expected. That may be a city thing.

It’s honestly okay for the price, flavors are nothing great but the real disappointment were the mango lassis. We ordered 3 in excitement for 2 people and the color was the first warning sign, darker orange than the usual creamy yellow color of a mango lassi and it didn’t much taste like mango. For 70 dollars for 2 mains, a side, 2 pieces of naan and 3 lassis I would expect better
