First thing is its storefront screams Chinese takeout only but they have 12 booths and 5 regular tables. The storefront needs to say “dine in” I almost. drove right by because i wanted to sit down and eat.
The food was surprisingly good. It is not a buffet but the dinners for one will feed more than one. Eggrolls are better than good.

In 1994 as part of my postgraduate work in archeology i traveled to Xuzhou to assist in excavations and reconstructions. The people were friendly and the food was delicious and inexpensive. I have never had such amazing Chinese food since in the USA. Never until ordering three combination dinners from Five Happiness last Saturday night.

This is the only Chinese restaurant in town is what I was told when I had to stay in Diamondhead for 8 days. Absolutely the worst Chinese(?)food I have ever had in my life. Made my stomach hurt for two days and I pretty much had issues for most of those two days too due to the food I ate that night on my take-out order from there. I wouldn’t recommend my worst enemy to eat there. What a waste of my money and not good for my digestive system. And NO my stomach is not sensitive as I live in Houston and used to very spicy/greasy Mexican food.

I have been eating here since the late 1990’s. The buffet was good and I miss it. The portions are large and the food is cooked to order. Even with the new management, the food is consistently excellent, They thoroughly cook everything and the sauces are not too salty. The staff are always friendly, like family. Recently retired, now there is time to drive anywhere to eat, but I always prefer what 5 Happiness offers.

I was VERY disappointed in the carryout I got recently (egg foo young, curry shrimp and hot & sour soup). NONE of it was up to par to what I have eaten there before, or elsewhere, for that matter. Are they under new management?? The sauce for the egg foo young was BLACK like tar and tasted burnt and salty. (See picture. Taken in November 2022, I think, and I’ve not been back since!) The curry shrimp was spicy hot, but otherwise tasteless and the hot & sour soup did not taste good either: there were very few ingredients except for mushrooms and they were chewy. I’ve gotten the same takeout there MANY times and it was very good. Oh my goodness!!!! Not so this time. There was a new person who waited on me too, this time. Not the super friendly gal who used to be there. Last time in there for me, as i suspect new Management. Boo hoo…

Nice place in Diamondhead to order Chinese food. Love the service you get as they are very complimentary and will most likely call you beautiful! Owner is so sweet and fun. You will always get great service here. I usually order ahead and it’s ready very quickly. If not wanting to cook and in the mood for some yummy food this is the place to go.
