Fitzgerald’s Lunch House is fantastic. The Rooster is my go-to sandwich, but honestly, everything I’ve tried has been great. Their potato casserole is amazing, and the BBQ pulled pork nachos — often a Friday special — are absolutely awesome.

Don’t sleep on this place, they’ve got some of the best salads I’ve ever had! The menu’s got a bunch of options, all packed with flavor. I always recommend the Garden Rooster (I add bacon and avocado) and the Rooster Sandwich. I usually order online and never have to wait they always have it packed and ready to go. If it weren’t for a catering event at my job, I probably wouldn’t have even known it was there. It’s lowkey hidden, but definitely worth checking out!

Hidden gem for sure. I’ve worked less than 1/2 mile away for 6 months, and just now finding this place. I had the smoked chicken nachos, and they were the best nachos I’ve ever had. (Disclosure: I chose to not use the sauce, but tried it. It was good but I wanted the natural taste). The quantity was filling and I had a small portion to take home even. Fairly priced. And while I’m at it, the tea was good too. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was very pleasant ans professional. The decor is so welcoming and beautiful as well. I highly recommend and will definitely return as much as possible! I’m so glad my Google review for a Cobb salad led me here, even though I ordered something else.

This is a first class lunch restaurant about one block northeast of 56th and post. The menu is deliciously varied. For example, Wednesday is chili day and it’s made with roast beef with a terrific spice blend and is very filling At the same time, the potato thyme soup is also a good choice. They’re very conscious of using excellent ingredients in all their menu items and the service is terrific. The dining room is on the small side so I’d recommend getting there on the edge of the lunch rush. The hours are weekdays from 11 till 2 so much sure you get there!There is no dinner service and parking can get limited but you expect that at a popular restaurant.

Well this was voted the best in September 2023 on yelp so we had to give it a try. No kidding this was worth the stop. Right away the chef welcomed us and guided us through the menu. He gave us some sides along with the meal. The salad was great. They took out the seeds in the cucumber so not burping. The Rooster sandwich is a favorite for a reason..great. the chicken salad sandwich was great texture, not overly sweet, and great. Mac and cheese unparalleled.

Found this gem of a restaurant by happenstance, and now one of my favorite places! The owner introduced himself to us when we walked in, ran us through the menu, and even gave us samples of their house salad and mac and cheese (both so good and will be getting next time!), and is one of the main cooks. The whole staff from start to finish made me feel at home, the atmosphere is like a big family hanging out and joking around, and I was amazed at how good the food was also! Will be coming back and trying to bring coworkers and friends!

This area in general has some very exceptional lunch spots. Fitzgerald’s leads the pack by far. During my first visited I ordered the ubiquitous Rooster sandwich and it didn’t disappoint. I would have preferred a bit more sauce but quite was quite good all the same. I hared some potato salad with a co-worker that was amazing. The Chef had a twice baked potato app (I can’t remember the correct name) which was unbelievable. And for those still currently serving they offer you a free drink with your lunch.
I like the place some much I came back the next day with a bogger group. Suffice to say the first visit wasn’t a fluke this time the meal was probably just a tad better with the same great friendly service. I had the Cuban and the mac and cheese which were both superbly done.
Come here now. You won’t regret it.

Fitzgerald’s is the best spot for lunch in Lawrence and Indianapolis as a whole in my opinion! Excellent food. His homemade ranch dressing is to die for. EVERYTHING I’ve tried on the menu has been stellar. The owner is a super friendly guy and always remember us when we come in for lunch.
