Fitoor is such a beautiful upscale Indian spot in Santa Monica. The vibe is amazing, we went on a Saturday around 8 PM and it was completely packed, so definitely make a reservation. There was a live DJ and it made the whole dinner feel fun and energetic.

The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Everything we tried was great, but the Branzino and the prawns were absolutely excellent.

If you’re looking for great Indian food with a lively atmosphere, this is definitely the place to go.

As I start to write the review and think about the experience, I am a little conflicted between 3 and 4 stars overall and I’ll try to lay it out in some detail. I’ll go with 4 stars but with some lingering doubt.

We went here for dinner on a Thursday evening. We had a reservation and were seated almost immediately when we got there. The restaurant occupies a fairly large space and even has a section that can do private events.

The table felt a little tight for a party of four but that’s what they have and it worked with some creative moving/placing of dishes so I suppose that’s fine.

The ambiance was excellent. I really liked that the restaurant gave the feel of a fine dining experience, unlike many Indian restaurants. I’m not always seeking out fine dining, but when I am, I will know to go here!

The service was good and efficient. Our server had suggestions and made recommendations that all seemed to make sense.

We placed our orders for drinks and appetizers and they came out quickly. We enjoyed the paneer (can anyone mess up paneer?!!), the avocado burrata chat was pretty innovative and interesting, the tofu dish was OK.

We then ordered the entrees, maybe too many! The daal was excellent, very buttery. The other dishes were above average but not great.

We ordered two desserts and those were really not good. I think they tried to do too much with the desserts. The Gulab Jamun Crème Brûlée really missed the mark. In my view, a good Gulab Jamun is excellent in its own right. It pairs well with a few things (cold vanilla ice cream!) but not with a lot of things. And this attempt at trying to do a Crème Brûlée with Crème Anglaise was a total fail. And the Pheni Nest – that was a total failure.

Maybe the fact that we finished with dessert that failed badly has me feeling like the experience wasn’t great. But as I rationalize, I feel like the ambiance and the first few courses were average to good should offset that. And maybe that’s really why I am conflicted?

Anyway, overall I feel like I would go there again before I make a final judgement on how I feel about it. And in the meanwhile, I would recommend it to someone looking for a nice Indian restaurant, that offers a good dining experience.

Loved the food! Their presentation was excellent! Kurkure Corn appetizer was the best! Dal Makhani & Paneer Lababdar were also very tasty! Gulab Jamun Creme Brulee is definitely a must try!

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The food I ordered was beautifully presented, but the flavors didn’t quite match what I’d expect from Indian cuisine (even fusion), especially for the price. But the dessert was really good.

This was a nice fancy place to come out to dinner for elevated Indian food.

I ordered the Cordelia drink that was nice and refreshing. We ordered family style so we got to try everything. Portion sizes were a bit on the small side. So make sure you order enough. The curry leaf prawns, coastal flame scallops and eggplant kulcha was very good! The pulled butter chicken kulcha & Kerala beef pepper fry were decent. The favorites were probably the lamb shank Rogan Josh & the alleppey prawn & curry fish. It was all very fragrant, flavorful and delicious. The ambience of the restaurant feels like a cocktail bar with upscale food. This would be a neat place to visit just for a drink by the bar.

This restaurant also accommodates pets as I had a dog there in the outdoor patio. The staff was very attentive and nice.

I’m in town with some friends and we decided to stop by for dinner and it was great! Our server Gabi was so kind and attentive and super fun! The GM was also so funny and stopped by our table to introduce himself. The ambience and location was also great! Will definitely be back soon!

This was my second visit to Fitoor, and once again they raised the bar—high enough to make every other “vegan-friendly” restaurant in LA blush.

I run a Vegan Ladies group in Los Angeles, and Rohan, the manager, went above and beyond to make our lunch memorable. He and Chef Imran Khan created a dedicated vegan menu just for us—thoughtful, flavorful, and truly phenomenal. I’ve eaten at a lot of vegan spots across LA, and this one genuinely takes the cake (a vegan one, obviously).

Every dish was curated with intention, care, and zero fuss, even with our various dietary needs and allergies. And a special shout-out to our server, Roshni, who was warm, attentive, and made us feel so well taken care of.

Whether you’re vegan or not, put Fitoor on your foodie bucket list. It’s an experience—one crafted with heart, hospitality, and unforgettable flavor.

The food was absolutely amazing! Every dish was bursting with flavor, and we were so grateful that our vegan requests were happily accommodated. The staff was kind and attentive, making sure everything met our dietary needs without compromising on taste. Highly recommend for anyone looking for delicious Indian food with thoughtful service!

A special shoutout to Heather, who was incredibly patient and accommodating with all our requests. She made us feel so welcomed and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Her kindness and attention to detail truly elevated our dining experience—thank you, Heather!

It’s 60 minutes from my home, yet worth driving.
Ambience 5 out of 5
Service and staff 5 out of 5
Enough space. We had prebooking though it was not weekend. For parking metered parking on street is the only option.
Food definitely delicious. We had very good vegetarian options.
Purple potato ragda patty and Dahi kachori we enjoyed. Tandoori roti and Malabar paratha were soft. Reinvented paneer lababdar was tasty and non-oily. Mocktails, Guaua was best amongst all.
And desert, Gulab jamun creme brûlée-great, must try.

Very contemporary decor with an inviting foyer. Interior is modern and feels warm and welcoming.
The paneer starter was extremely good as was the avocado and burrata appetizer. The jackfruit korma was very interesting and well made. Definitely worth a try. The keema Biryani, chicken dal bungalow and fish with shrimp were all a miss for me. The Malabar paranthas did not taste homemade and they were raw in the middle, indicating that they may have been made from packaged frozen ones. The lemongrass mocktail was very nice and refreshing and the guava was too sweet. The crembrulee gulabjamun dessert was a fun twist as was the pheni rasgulla. The gujjia was a miss for me again. The wait staff was generally polite, though I had to ask for things repeatedly. Repeatedly. Repeatedly. Repeatedly. And that included the senior staff as well. One of the servers seemed flurried and was unsure what to recommend because he ” didn’t really know about Indian food”. All in all a very mixed bag. I will go back if I’m in the area and it’s a special occasion. Worth visiting if you’re looking for decent Indian food, though it’s pricey.

PS
Went with very high hopes but the overall experience was very disappointing.

First they made us sit in the patio on a rainy day with a leaking roof with no heaters . Then when we expressed our concern, they put a patio table inside to accommodate us and it was appreciated though it was odd to sit on a high patio table inside while all the others tables were low
The music they had put was blasting , we requested to reduce the volume and they did the opposite, they increased the volume. It looked as though we were sitting at some local fast food chain not a formal restaurant.

They also have valet parking for $20.

The food was miserable. They messed up the simple everyday dishes by making it a fusion modern twist . Samosa chaat was so sour , daal makhani was full of cream , artichoke saag was so disgusting. And their naan too were rubbery . Only the paneer tikka saved the day . Their gulab jamun crème brûlée was seriously so pathetic, it looked very yummy but it was tasteless.
On top of this , when we asked for the green chutney for paneer tikka which they hadn’t provided, they charged us $3 for it , unbelievable.
They also charged us $3 for few green chillies we asked .
When a restaurant which is already expensive and claim to be good , act so cheap , who would want to go back .
We went there to celebrate a special event and it was fully spoilt . Would never recommend this .
