Welcome to Fiskekompaniet, a seafood restaurant nestled in the Tromsø harbour. Northern Norway is ruled by the forces of nature. That is why the menu here, like the sea, is constantly changing – and always packed with fresh taste experiences. The restaurant is beautiful and has a very refined atmosphere. A great place for lunch. If you’re looking to try king crab, caviar, or Arctic char, this is the place to do it. Everything was very fresh. The bread and butter were also outstanding, and the staff were kind, attentive, and took the time to explain each dish.

Beautiful dining experience. We had the waiters reccomendation of the soup to start and catch of the day, which was fresh and perfectly cooked. The service was excellent – attentive without being intrusive. Ideal for anyone wanting a finer dining lunch/diner in Tromsø.

“You can only take the 4-course meal”. Rude, slightly shorter waitress said.
“It’s ok, we would like to take the 6-course, you can bring all the dishes at the same time.” We replied.
“Sure. This is only our recommendation for a 2-hour dinning. You can choose as you like. She said.
“Ok, thank you. Why are you being rude to us? The staff here yesterday was so much nicer when we came here“
“No, I am nice that’s why I moved you to the main dining table. Do you want to leave your jacket here for a more comfortable sitting”. Rude hostess asked.
“Yes please, thank you.”

As we were placing the order with our male waiter, the waitress from the next table jumped to our table “nonononono, you can’t have the 6-course menu”
Meanwhile, the male staff from UK was extremely friendly and said, no worry, we can make it work. We can have two main courses together.
“No, you can’t have it.” She insisted.

What the hell???? What’s going on??? Who’s this waitress from another table??? Rude curly hair waitress. It’s not normal at all. We have given our consent you can serve all dishes in the 2-hour window. We know our pace of eating.

We came here yesterday from 9-10pm. Opened the most expensive bottle you have, ordered seafood etc. Leave tips to you, same as tonight. Why are you treating your customers like your enemy??? Very strange.

When we approach to get our jacket, the hostess indicated we can just go and grab the jacket from the rack. What??? Then we realised we are supposed to get the jacket by ourselves with a big label of “all values is stored at your own risk.”

If that’s the case, please warn your customers before you kindly ask us to remove o ur jackets.

Very strange, if you are trying to position yourself as the high end restaurant, please work on the small details. All the female staff the unbelievably rude for no reason????

Got the 6-courcwe meal. Food is good, seasonal and excellent. Good wine recommended. The timing of the meals was slow and a bit too spaced out. Got the last two quickly with a message that the table was needed 10 min after the last meal arrived, which was ok but unnecessary.

Lighting on the outside of the restaurant ruins the outside view.

I recently celebrated my girlfriend’s birthday with a dinner at this restaurant, and I can confidently say it was the best dining experience I’ve had all year. The seafood platter was incredibly fresh and delicious, truly a highlight of the evening. We also ordered the six-course dinner, and each course was a delightful surprise, showcasing remarkable flavors and creativity. The service was exceptionally attentive and friendly, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a fantastic celebration, and I highly recommend this place for any special occasion.

Tromsø is best known for its seafood, and Fiskekompaniet, a harbor-side restaurant overlooking the waterfront, is among the city’s finest places to enjoy it.
I opted for the 6-course dinner (1,195 NOK; 2,345 NOK with wine pairing) and added a glass of white wine (190 NOK). A note for visitors: in Norway, wine pairings typically mean a full glass per course, considerably more than in many other countries. It’s worth factoring in your alcohol tolerance before ordering. Bread and butter were served ahead of the first course. The menu consisted of:
・Arctic char from Sigerfjord — served with yellow beets, honey, and mustard. Exceptionally fresh and tender, with restrained smoking and minimal seasoning that allowed the fish to shine. Delicate and precisely balanced, like a quiet waltz executed perfectly.
・Saithe from Tromvik — paired with beurre blanc and herbs. The silky, buttery sauce contrasted nicely with the fennel and complemented the fish well.
・Scallop from Nordnesøy — lightly charred, served with celeriac and hollandaise. The creamy sauce enveloped the scallop without overwhelming its natural sweetness.
・Langoustine from Hitra — fresh and sweet, topped with a crisp garnish and accompanied by carrot and sea buckthorn.
・Catch of the day — served with turnip, miso, and chicken jus. Subtle, warming flavors that felt comforting yet refined.
・Passionfruit crémeux — vanilla ice cream with apricot sauce and biscuits, a light and satisfying finish.
The meal unfolded at a relaxed pace, lasting from around 17:30 to 20:00 — leisurely, but noticeably more concise than many tasting menus.
Service was professional, if somewhat reserved, with staff speaking fluent English. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the décor understated yet elegant. Pricing sits at the higher end by Tromsø standards, comparable to Emmas Drømmekjøkken. Online reservations are available via a smooth, user-friendly system, and advance booking is strongly recommended — the restaurant was fully booked for dinner on the day of my visit, and on another occasion I also observed it fully booked at lunchtime.
Overall, a refined and memorable dining experience, and one of Tromsø’s best options for seafood. A must-visit, provided the budget allows.

A friend recommended this restaurant after visiting last year. The food and service were fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed the Monk fish, Arctic Char and scallops. They can cater to dietary requirements somewhat too.

With good location and decent decoration, this restaurant is quite good for gathering and a formal dinner.

People are helpful and nice.

We ordered arctic shrimp which is superb and king crab which is not as good as expected.

We also had the catch of day, you can tell that the fish was really fresh but the cooking was just normal.

Came here to celebrate a special occasion during lunch so it wasn’t crowded at all. We got the seafood soup and the portion of fish in it was really generous. We also got the artic char and the catch of the day and they were both yummy but maybe a tad on the salty side.
