This was hands-down the best calamari I’ve ever eaten. You could actually taste how fresh it was — tender, not chewy, and without that lingering aftertaste you sometimes get with seafood. The portions were generous; I ordered the half box that came loaded with calamari, fish and chips, prawns, and the most delicious homemade tartar sauce.
The calamari alone is worth coming back for, but the fish and chips — coated in a light, crisp tempura batter — were just as impressive. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted incredibly fresh. Highly recommend this place for seafood lovers, especially if you appreciate quality and flavor.

High rating fish n chips in manly. We were here on a rainy day so the hot food does cheers us up. Tempura veggie was a surprise and generous portion. Five of us can’t even finish on the spot.

Best fish and chips in Manly! Tucked away in side alley came across this place. Does hand cut chips and crispy Tempura battered fish not beer battered like all other places. I had flathead as Australian and fresh. Liked the touch of sweet potato crisps on top. Had take away and eat on Manly beach which is a small stroll away. Price is pretty good too. Only $20 for a standard fish and chips. 5 stars

Great service, friendly hello from the Asian gentleman at the counter.
Asked him and Chef for their recommendations and we got both the specials.
Grilled Salmon with salad, cooked perfectly. Nice and flaky and moist in the middle, not dry at all. Crust was crispy. Salad was a good choice for something light and refreshing.
Battered flathead with fries. Probably the best fish and chips I’ve had. Crispy batter, chips you could tell were made fresh and in house as opposed to brought in and frozen.
Quality ingredients and great service from the 2 gentlemen that were working around 3pm on Monday. The boss loved it, which means we will be back!

Beautiful batter on the fish and my partner had the crumbed calamari which was also excellent! The smaller chips were delicious but some were rather large more resembling large potato wedges so not the classic chips you might expect! They also included some sweet potato chips which was a nice touch!

Had battered hoki with tempura veges and soy sauce ($23). Very filling. Hoki tasted very tasty and fresh, with a batter that was thin and crispy. Tempura was bleh – the batter (same as the hoki batter?) was too greasy for the vegetables and too heavily salted imo, it made me wonder what the soy sauce was for
Owner was friendly and knowledgeable about coeliac and provided good range of food options for my coeliac friend.

I was looking for fish and chips, like authentic but most of the ones around manly is fried with beer batter. We went searching and found this quaint little place that cooked their with just tempura and was perfect! Loved the service and the lady behind the counter. Loved their fish and chips, served hot and the atmosphere was lovely.

Somewhat hidden yet relatively easy to find in one of the back streets of Manly’s corso, this place is ‘one of’ or more appropriately, the ‘top fish & chips restaurants in Sydney’. Fishmongers isn’t your ordinary fish & chips place around the corner, it has a generous courtyard-like seating outside away from noise and traffic. We ordered the 1/2 family box, very easily, serves 2. It starts with two oysters as hors d’ouvre followed by the mouth-watering and fabulously looking box which came with our grilled barramundi and flathead (small additional cost). It came with prawns and calamaris which were also cooked to perfection and the endless serving of ‘truly’ hand-cut chips and wedges! The box came with the traditional sauces and plenty of lemons and sweet potato chips. Fishmongers isn’t cheap but like anything of luxury, quality has its price. We were extremely happy to pay this price of an out of this world fish & chips experience that has truly left all competitors behind. We will definitely visit again.

This is the worst fish and chip I have ever had. First off, the salmon is burnt. And who serve fish and chip in a bowl!? The chips are wayyyyy too thick. The crispy sweet potatoes was not crispy. What a waste of ingredient! I have had their fish and chips in Bondi branch and it was the best. This is the total opposite.
