We went there because we thought this was the same company as the Sydney based Fishmongers. Got take outs to eat at the beach at sunset. Byron Box x2. We requested grilled calamari & grilled fish. The fish was bland & white with no evidence of grilling, but the biggest disappointment was that both boxes contained minuscule quantities of calamari. Each had 2 strips of 3-5cm long…. that’s it. There was more garnish of sweet potato crisps than calamari. We went back after leaving the beach to provide constructive feedback & were told that when substituting grilled for fried calamari, they normally throw in 5 or 6 strips instead of 3 rings. We received x2 strips each, with one only about 3cm long. The staff member seemed confused, then offered to “throw on a few more strips” for us but by that time we’d already finished our meals (which consisted of 90% potato chips) & were heading home. We definitely won’t be going back.

Lovely staff and the fish was lovely but the rest was very ordinary. We were really disappointed with the chips, more like soft and soggy wedges and the prawns were awful. Sorry guys, we won’t be back.

Best fish & chips in Byron hands down! And tastiest seafood I’ve eaten in a long time. Have been coming back for years and it never disappoints. Salt & Pepper Calamari, tempura veges and Grilled Barra are our favs. We enjoyed as takeaway on the beach multiple times during our holiday with the kids who ate every last bite.

Love the menu. The food was great – we had barramundi with an almond, macadamia and parmesan crust served with the signature salad which was delicious. We had the handmade chips on the side which were also great. Being able to sit outside in the street gave it a fabulous atmosphere. Would definitely go back. Highly recommend.

Ordered takeaway and everything was delicious. Tasty fresh fish, and the calamari and the salt and pepper prawns were great. Loved the house made wedges.

The best seafood I’ve had in a long time, everything is fresh, nothing frozen, marinated squid is to die for as well as the fresh oysters n grilled prawns, the chips are home made n the size of wedges.

Soooooo good… We ordered the tempura fish and veggies. everything was so delicious. And the salt and pepper coating was light and u can’t feel greasy even it was fried food. Strongly recommend!

we had the sharing box for two, which we picked up for takeaway. it was disappointing. the prawns tasted awful. i suspect they were too old, because prawns normally do not taste so actively terrible. the homemade chips were dense and soggy—i don’t know who thought replacing classic chips with these sad wedges was a good idea. it really is not. the fish was quite nice though, and the customer service was friendly. but certainly this is a place i will avoid going to again.

We first saw the girl on the main street, and we tried the tempura battered fish and was exquisite. We wandered around, looked at menus, and ended up at the restaurant by chance. The wrap was wonderful, and the tempura-battered fish with salad and corn was great too. Quiet place, good service, and perfect price-quality ratio. Highly recommended.”

We both ordered fish and chips and while the fish was fresh and tasty the ‘house’ chips were a little oily. The shaved crispy chips on top were good. We both found the deep bowls the meals were served in a little awkward using a knife and fork but probably ok if just using fingers. The garden salad was quite good. Small indoor eating area but plenty of outdoor seating.
