Recommended by locals.
Went for lunch on a Wednesday.
Upstairs were fully booked but there were tables on ground floor and outside available.
Many choices for lunch menu which I appreciated a lot.
Reasonable price.

Would definitely come again next time when we are in the area

Lovely fish place with daily changing menu and plenty of local Irish seafood. Mussels were cooked well in a nice flavorful sauce. It all came with a fragrant bread. We also ordered the raw oysters which are always a treat in Ireland. Nice vinegar dip for the oysters too. Beer drinkers will have to forego the draft beer here but canned options were plentiful (and cold) .

The food at the Fish Kitchen was nothing short of exceptional. I don’t often seek out fish restaurants, but when this restaurant was recommended to me, I decided to take the plunge—and I am so glad that I did. The setting strikes a perfect balance between relaxed and inviting, and we were warmly welcomed by staff who clearly love what they do. Once seated, we discovered the restaurant’s clever approach to sustainability: instead of traditional menus, the day’s offerings are presented on a wall-mounted board, adding a touch of charm and originality to the experience.

The food itself was remarkable. The fish cakes, brimming with fresh hake, cheddar, and capers, were rich in flavour, each bite offering a delightful burst of freshness. My partner’s scampi was equally impressive! So good, in her words, that she “wanted more,” though the generous portion left little to be desired. After our meal, we enjoyed an engaging chat with the staff about local produce and attractions, which made the experience feel all the more personal. It’s clear that the owners have poured both passion and care into the Fish Kitchen, and it shines through in every detail. Part of me would rather keep this gem a secret, just to ensure we can always find a seat when we return!

The food was excellent. It really had to be at this price point, but they succeeded. The portion size was good, there is not too much or too little food. The restaurant had a good atmosphere and it is very much appreciated that the outdoor dining area is non-smoking.

We ate at the fish kitchen for lunch. The staff was very warm and welcoming and we were able to get a table just after noon without a reservation. I had the fish and chips and my wife had the sea trout. We both enjoyed our meals. We finished with a nice rhubarb dessert. We definitely recommend stopping into the fish kitchen if you are ever in Bantry!

Stumbled upon this lovely place during an impromptu visit to Bantry. I was in the mood for seafood and soup on a quaint rainy day; The Fish Kitchen delivered everything I was looking for and more. The top floor provided a snug and cozy environment + delicious and warming food. The seafood chowder was right on the mark but the true, and unexpected star was their Parsnip and Apple Soup. Great and homely service; the staff made us feel comfortable even during a busy lunch rush and the prices were more than fair considering the quality. I highly recommend this place to anyone in Bantry looking for some local eats made with love.
