We stopped in for lunch and had a lovely meal. The Smashburger was excellent and obviously prepared from fresh beef. The waffle fries were nice and crispy. We also had a pork barbecue sandwich with a side of coleslaw. The service was very friendly and knowledgeable. The weight for food was very reasonable.

Had an amazing Saturday lunch here! The place looks great with a welcoming atmosphere. For our starter, we had the fried pickle spears — hands down the best fried pickles I’ve ever tried. Super crunchy on the outside and packed with flavor.

For mains, we ordered the pulled pork platter with mac & cheese and potatoes — everything was delicious and comforting. I got the Brickwood Rib Platter, and it was fantastic. The sauce on the ribs was perfectly balanced and gave such a great flavor. The waffle fries were crispy and the coleslaw was fresh, rounding out the meal perfectly.

Came in on Thursday, Around 5-6pm. Great service from the start. I had the ribs and brisket platter–cooked tender, though neither showed the smoke ring I’m used to in Austin, TX and both were smeared w Bbq sauce (bland) where I’d rather see a dry rub. Havng a good piece of Brisket to slice my own bites was nice, though it would be easier to have the ribs pre-cut. The green beans were out of this world! Spicy, tasty, and best I’ve ever haf–that alone would bring me back, and I want to get the pulled chicken/pork to try their sauces out anyway. Great full bar, and very clean inside. You can tell some thought went into the wine selections. Overall, 5 stars. It would be unfair to compare VA BBQ directly w Texas so I won’t.

This was my first time at Brickwood Bbq. I met friends here for lunch and we all had a really nice time. I went for the R&B platter, which consisted of ribs, brisket, onion rings and corn pudding. Needless to say, I had leftovers to take home and eat later. Btw that corn pudding was like eating dessert with my meal. It was fabulous!

Direct quotes from dinner tonight: “Food: 10 stars!” – “Nom Nom!” – “We’d like to live here!” [They said no, it’s zoned commercial… so maybe live next door.] – “That’s a lot of meat!” – “All the meats were good and all the sauces!”
Everything was so good. The macaroni. The Hush Puppies with cinnamon butter. Smoked chicken was very nicely smoked. The sauces on the ribs were so good. The brisket was fabulous. My red-skinned potatoes I saved for last as they were so good.
Team was great and attentive. Bathroom was quite decent. Vibe was good with decent music. Food was awesome.
I asked for any mocktails and it was an instant emphatic no, I frowned briefly and so I asked for an orange juice without ice and that is what they brought it to me. (Most places forget to leave out the ice. Ice is gross!)
They tried to charge us for 1/4 of the price but we had them double check the bill. Haha.
Overall, we will come back when we can.

The food here is amazing! I really enjoyed the burger and even the mashed red potatoes. I strongly recommend trying the food here. Plenty of t.v.’s to catch the games.

The smashed potatoes were the highlight, very good! Unfortunately, the ribs were tough and not tender at all. It was difficult to even pull them apart to eat. The cheesecake was $10 for an incredibly small slice compared to the restaurant photos and the crust/cookie parts tasted extremely stale.

The service and vibes were great, but the BBQ didn’t hit unfortunately. Maybe we went on an off day but all the meat we purchased was too firm. I got baby back ribs and my partner got a pulled pork sandwich and both were very tough to chew. Onion rings and the chili were pretty on point though.

Outstanding barbecue experience in the Fan District. Upon entering, you are immediately greeted by the rich, inviting aroma of barbecue in preparation. The staff demonstrated both friendliness and attentiveness throughout the visit. The menu offered an impressive range of options, featuring exceptionally prepared main dishes complemented by classic barbecue sides. Portion sizes were generous, making leftovers likely. Prices aligned well with the quality of the meal. I look forward to returning to explore more items on the menu.
