1st night’s dinner on the island. Great location right off the shore and tables by the window were not hard to get at the time, so it worked out. Our server was awesome. Bummer was I guess we came a bit late as they were out of my first choice Ono, but dinner was very good. My only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because it was expensive for the overall dinner for 2. I would come by for drinks and an app with the view which is great.

This place had amazing food! They were 6 of us, and all agreed the food was delicious. It’s a little upscale, although we didn’t realize it and went directly after the beach. Luckily, they were able to accommodate us because it was early, like 5pm. I had salmon and it was so good. Everyone had something different on the menu, and everyone in our party grabbed about the good, especially the ribs. Our waiter was also good and knew the menu well!

Fish Hopper was an all around amazing experience and had great views! Our server was friendly, funny, attentive and seemed like she truly cared about our experience. I started with a Kona Golden Ale and my wife ordered a mocktail. I ordered the ribs and subbed the rice for fries. The ribs were outstanding—they were tender, had a slight crisp to them and the BBQ sauce was great. My only complaint was the BQQ sauce at the bottom of the plate was topped with a horseradish sauce, not my favorite. That being said, I would order the ribs every day of the week. My wife really enjoyed her filet mignon. We ended with the crème brûlée—so good. All around great experience and decently priced. If we had more time on the island we’d be back.

What a relief to find to find this place. Great atmosphere and great food, I do recommend it. Make sure to ask for the price of what you are ordering if the price is not on the menu. I ordered the seafood platter for 2 and it was $210. The value is probably correct, but I didn’t need the shock of the bill when I’m simply sharing it with my 5 year old the waiter knew that because my husband ordered his own meal.

Pretty nice atmosphere with open air dining right on the ocean. Friendly staff, my server, who I forgot to get her name was awesome. Very attentive and friendly and made you feel welcome. The clam chowder was the most amazing I’ve ever had. Thick and Rich chock-full of clam and potatoes. Just a cup is very filling. The salad in this picture that’s no little salad plate. That’s a big 12 inch dinner plate. Lotta food there. If I ever get back to Kona , I will definitely revisit the fish hopper.

The fish hopper in Kailua- Kona was very tasty for all of us! We got the Kona brew fish and chips, the Kalua pork sandwich and the land and sea burger. I asked for my burger to be medium done- it came out well done and they fixed it for me in a second – bringing me a new medium burger.

Local restaurant in Kona. Good selection of fresh fish. Can’t beat the water-front location for indoor, but open-air dining. Reservations recommended , especially if you want that table closest to water. Full bar too. Hard to find driveway but leads to about 20 parking spaces behind restaurant. Wait staff very good.
