Had a fantastic meal at Fish City Grill in San Antonio. The dishes were absolutely succulent.

The bass with chimichurri sauce was divine — perfectly cooked, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. The herb-crusted salmon with capers was equally impressive, fresh and bright with great texture.

The atmosphere was lively, welcoming, and perfect for enjoying fresh seafood. Overall a great experience and definitely a spot worth visiting if you’re in the area.

Didn’t realize this was a chain restaurant. We came here for a dinner on our way back to Austin visiting SA, what a gem. The food was amazing… they didn’t just douse fish in sauce, but rather grilled it right. Quality food! Gumbo was one of my favorites! Wine and fishes were stellar. Confusingly affordable. Samantha, our waitress, was great too. Definitely will come back next time we are in TX!

Came here for dinner on a weekday and it was about half full, so was seated right away. There’s also a small outside patio which would be nice on a cooler day. Server immediately came over to take drink orders and also point out the specials written on the back chalkboard. There were some nice options not on the main menu.

Ordered some Oysters and Fried Green Tomatoes while we looked over the menu and specials. We ordered everything from Rainbow Trout, Flounder Special, Fish & Chips, Tacos, Salmon, Gumbo, etc.. Everything was brought together within 15 minutes and looked great. Each dish tasted as good as it looked.

Finished the meal with Bread Pudding for dessert. Our server, Mitch, did a great job as was very prompt and attentive. Will come back for other dishes.

Great oysters and mocktails! My buddy got the chowder and crab cake which he said was delicious!

Nice venue and they have TVs perfect for sports.

Fish City Grill is a solid option for a chain restaurant, and we’ve generally had good experiences there. The atmosphere is casual and the service is reliable, making it a comfortable spot for a casual meal out.

To start, we ordered the Fried Dill Pickles, which were fantastic—crispy, tangy, and a great way to kick off the meal.

For our entrées, the grilled Mediterranean Branzino was unfortunately disappointing. While the fish itself was flaky and perfectly seasoned, it was smothered in a creamy olive pesto that completely overwhelmed the delicate flavor of the fish. The pesto became the dominant flavor profile, making it a dish we would not order again.

We also tried the Fish & Chips, which were a letdown. The fish was undercooked, and the batter was still runny, rendering about half the dish inedible. It was far too greasy to enjoy.

Overall, while the atmosphere and service are great, our recent experience with the main dishes was mixed. We’d recommend trying other items on the menu and perhaps steering clear of the fried dishes for a while.

Went in for a late lunch after 2pm and sat at the bar. Started with a half dozen fresh Gulf oysters that were shucked in front of me by the bartender, Lani! There’s oyster nachos on the menu and after asking about them, the chef sent out a couple samples to try. Delicate fried oyster with Pico de Gallo and spicy mayo sauce were great! I highly recommend those. The soups and chowder samples were delicious too. The menu looked good but the Blackboard Specials caught my eye. Ordered the Mediterranean Sea Bass with a sherry cream sauce and balsamic drizzle, accompanied by a squash medley and rice. I asked Lani if she could sub the green beans or sauteed spinach for the rice. She recommended the Green Beans which were delicious. Everything was great and I took some bread pudding home for dessert. Tasted like the New Orleans style Baby! My new favorite seafood place in SA! Thanks for the great service and hospitality y’all and thanks for letting me hangout.

We visited this past Friday night at the Alamo Heights location with my two kids and had a wonderful experience. We immediately recognized Nick because he had waited on us before at the South Rim location, so it was really nice to see a familiar face again.
Even though it was busy, Nick took the time to talk with us and check in. At first we thought he was a server because we saw him bussing tables, helping at the door, and running food, but then realized he’s actually a manager now—and it shows. He was everywhere, helping everyone.
Nick walked us through the chalkboard specials and recommended the snapper Veracruz and the Texas redfish, both of which were absolutely delicious. He was so kind with my kids and made us feel truly welcome. The Alamo Heights location is lucky to have him, and we’ll definitely be back.

I can’t say enough of what a little hidden gem this place is and of my favorite first experiences in San Antonio!! I was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service and warm, family-like atmosphere. The staff’s genuine happiness was evident, and they went above and beyond to accommodate my needs, making me feel truly valued. The daily specials menu, which changes regularly, offered a delightful variety of dishes, showcasing the chef’s creativity and commitment to fresh ingredients. It was so hard to choose one dish!!

I was also moved to learn that the restaurant donates weekly to local causes, organizations, and charities, reflecting their dedication to the community. Both my server and the manager provided outstanding service, enhancing the overall dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone seeking not only delicious food, but also a place where you can feel the joy and commitment of the entire team.!!

It was our first time dining in and Eric made us feel so invited and taken care of! He recommended the sampler appetizer and brought us the welcome wagon which was a taste of all four soups they offer. I cannot say enough how delicious all the food was and the service was timely and kind! The music selection was calm and nostalgic, while the atmosphere was well lit but not overwhelming. The blackened trout was delicious and the fish and chips hit the spot. 10/10 will return again, thank you Eric!
