Really haven’t ever had a negative experience in relation to the place and I’ve been there at least a dozen times now. Best Ribs I’ve ever had from a BBQ place, a wide variety of other meats and sides to choose from. Fries are very good while Beans and Potato Salad are good. The only thing some people might not like I guess would be the self service after you have your food. Well worth it though IMO.

This location as well as their Brandon location ( back behind Hooters & Home Depot on SR 60) is some of the best BBQ anywhere. I used to eat there at least 3 days a week at the Brandon location and anytime I’m in Plant City I definitely stop in and eat. Its a no – brainer. I get the Turkey / Sausage Combo or mix it up and get a Pulled Pork or Beef / Sausage Combo. Then I get the cold/ spicy Macaroni Salad & Baked Beans. If you like Collards theirs are good also. They have fresh cut French fries that excellent too. One of my all time favorite places. I regret not working or living close by anymore.

Had probably the most tender fall-off-the-bone ribs I’ve ever had, the portions were very good for the price, and the interior has the potential to be really welcoming, but those were about the only good points. The chicken was so dry it couldn’t be finished, the collard greens were too bitter, the coleslaw was boring, the sauce was ordinary, and the fries tasted like they were cooked in old oil. Overall, it was OK, but I’ll keep searching for great.

My fiance and I were in the area and in the mood for BBQ. We went on a Wednesday around 6:30pm. We walked in and the prices were reasonable. I ordered a Rib/Sausage combo with Coleslaw and fries. My fiance ordered a Rib/Brisket combo with the same sides as me. Everything smelt great till we took a bite of the ribs. Holy wowsers. If you like your ribs texture to be the same as beef jerky then you will dig this place. The ribs were horrid. Thankfully we had the other companion of the combo. The sausage was great. The brisket was yummy too. We filled up on fries and the other part of the companion. Cole slaw wasn’t enticing. It was watery. I will never go back, they will have to pay me in order to do that. We decided if its not Curly Tails then it’s not BBQ.

I’ve been a customer of First Choice for over 10 years at their Brandon location, and then I moved to Plant City. When this location opened, i was so happy! They started out slow because no one knew them out here, but I went for lunch last week and it was packed! The pulled (viciously chopped haha) pork sandwich is my go-to with baked beans and french fries. The fries are always fresh out of the fryer, the baked beans are sweet but not syrup, and their barbecue sauce is deliciously one-of-a-kind. Im happy I’m supporting a local business and their food is delicious and fresh every time. Plus HUGE portions! They never disappoint.. give em a try! 😉

My first visit today. I’m from Texas and North Carolina, so I’ve had my share of good bbq, and find it easy to recommend First Choice BBQ. The atmosphere in Plant City was comfortable. The staff was friendly and courteous. The facilities were clean. They serve everything chopped, which isn’t my preference, but it didn’t affect the taste or me eating all of it. The brisket had a light smokey taste without burnt ends. The sausage wasn’t too spicy, but kept me coming back for more. The corned beef was among the best I’ve ever had including NYC. The spicy mac had a good flavor, but I would have preferred the mac a little less al dente. The beans were sweet, but not too much. Pork is their specialty so I’ll try it next time because I will be back. They have a sweet mild sauce which should suit any palette and they hide (from the children) the home made hot sauce, which is a thick bold offering with a hot kick on the back end. It wasn’t my favorite, but I enjoyed it mixed with the mild. BBQ is different everywhere I go and First Choice is a little different as well, but on the good side. Highly recommend.

Easily the best bbq in Tampa. Probably top 5 I’ve ever had. Great bbq sauce; sweet with excellent flavor. I usually get the pork dinner that comes with two sides. Fries are good and crispy. Macaroni salad is excellent and unique. Baked beans are very good. They get you in and out quickly, reasonable pricing. Always leave satisfied.

I can get a 1/4 chicken meal with two sides for under $7 out the door. That in itself deserves my commendation, not to mention the fact that it’s delicious and freshly made. Considering that Wendy’s value meals are the same price, I think it’s safe to say that this place gets you great bang for your buck.

Very fast service. You order at the desk inside. Quality food and the staff are very nice. Prices are also very acceptable, the ribs are actually a good size unlike other establishments. Highly recommended, I’ll be coming back.

Not bad, but not First Choice. Reasonably priced food, but most of it seemed like you could make it at home. I got the combo plate (pick two each meats and sides) with sausage, pulled pork, potato salad, and coleslaw. The slaw seemed that of something from a tub. Same with the potato salad. The pork and sausage were both moist and had a good flavor. Their bbq sauce is a sweet sauce that was tasty. However, I would have preferred to see more homemade type food. Lost a star purely for that reason. I came here for deep south bbq and feel like I could have done nearly the same meal at home with minimal work.
