My wife and I visited from Southern Minnesota and absolutely loved this place. They take amazing care of you and also feed you extremely well. A dinner comes with the salad bar and they had very good potato soup. My wife got the walleye and it was massive and very flavorful. My steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was a great size (not too thin). Our server Aubrey was really nice and gave us some great recommendations. They are very lucky to have her there!

Our server was friendly and prompt and gave us a nice table by the fireplace. She supported her teammates when she said the bartender made great cocktails.They were perfectly made! We had the steak special with the added salad bar for just $3.00 more. It is a treat to have salad bar as most restaurants do not offer it anymore.The steak was perfectly cooked! We were very pleased with our dining experience at the Fireside and will definitely be back!

Great burgers!!! Myself and my girlfriend each had the Saturday special(burger–fries–drink)… Im picky,and it was cooked PERFECT!!! The atmosphere grade is unfair because we were there very early in the day(not much atmosphere to be had in the A.M.)

We were passing through McGregor and stopped in for dinner. Our waitress, Audrey, was very kind along with the other staff. Great food and, honestly, the best walleye I have had in a long time. Definitely a place I would drive the distance to dine at!

Did take out. Salad bar was small but fresh my wings where amazing! Cocktails were good and reasonable bartender attentive. Definitely will be back!

Shrimp scampi was rubbery and no flavor. Baked potato was old. And cold by time they brought butter . Salad bar for price dint have very good selection and the ranch was watered down had no flavor. I was hoping with new owners food quality had improved but I guess small towns just cant habe quality food which is sad. They did take mine off which I appreciate and the waitress was really nice. But really wanted to have good food.

From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted by friendly staff.
We were promptly seated by the wood burning fireplace. It was such a a relaxed and beautiful place. An added touch was the real candle burning on each table.
Every detail of this restaurant gives a warm inviting Northwoods feel. From the fireplace to the animal mounts give an at home feel.
Now let’s talk about the service. As mentioned they greet you with a smile that makes you feel like they are you friend.
We didn’t wait long till or order was taken. While we waited she brought a Minnie loaf of delicious bread.
I enjoyed the salad bar. While it didn’t have many choices it was great. Nice crisp lettue and the dressing were excellent.
I had the special which that night was fish.
It is Alaskan cod. I had the deep fried but is available broiled. And yes is is all you can eat. I was very happy with the fish.
I ordered au gratin potatoes. They were okay but not the best I had.
Over all I recommend this a a great place to eat

Hot the “Hot As Hell” burger, which was delicious! The service was good, though the fries were a little dry/over fried, though that was the only disappointment of the night, and even so, not bad considering the price and the size of the burger. Would recommend as the best place to stop to anyone going through Macgregor looking for food 🙂

We love the Fireside! Top of the list of local restaurants… we especially love the shrimp . Burgers, walleye and steaks are top notch . If you’re a fan of Broasted Chicken this is your place ! Tonight … 8/10/2025 the dining room was full and we had a party of 6 and Audrey our server had the entire room by herself .. she was awesome .. hustling to keep people happy and well served ! AAA rating !
