Food tasted great. Would have been too expensive though without a coupon. This was my second time and I noticed two things. The subs seem to be pretty messy to eat by hand. I think the subs shouldn’t be cut all the way through to help. Another thing is they surprisingly had probably one of the best French fries! -A large order should have double the sauce though!

I visited on 9/3/2025 at about 5:45pm at the shop on Fish Hatchery Rd. near the Beltline Highway in Madison WI

I have an allergy to chicken and turkey. I know it’s a rare allergy and I have some patience with people who don’t get it. I would still go to this restaurant because they have good sandwiches. I want to say that at the get-go. They do have very good sandwiches. However, I went there today and I asked the guy at the order station if there’s any chicken or turkey in the salami or pepperoni. I had to ask about nine different ways and he couldn’t answer my question. He just said they come in a big sleeve of meat and we have no idea what’s in them. I don’t believe that. I think they come in boxes and then the sleeves are in the boxes and on the boxes are labels. Any kind of decent customer service would involve the guy saying I’m not sure but let me check and then running back to the cooler and check in the label on the box. That’s not that big of a deal. I’m not asking for the moon, just what ingredients are in the salami. I ended up having to order something I didn’t want because I was hungry and I did not have the patience to continue this conversation that was going nowhere.This restaurant has good recipes and good food, but the customer service is quite lackluster.

I came in after work, no one was in the store to greet me or take my order. After about 5 minutes, I see the woman eating food in the back. When she finally came to take my order she seemed upset and bothered. My sub firehouse steak and cheese sub was cold and disgusting. The only thing going for this restaurant is the clean dining room, which was empty because these ladies are ignoring guests coming into the lobby 🙂

This place has really good subs. My problem comes with them not making my sub correctly. I usually always get the club on a sub. I’m a creature of habit. But it never has bacon on it anymore. This is like the 4th or 5th time I’ve gotten it and it has no bacon on it. Just makes me wish I just had a ham and turkey only.

2 thin layers of lukewarm brisket on untrusted bun that didn’t taste fresh.

A $15 large cheddar brisket should have several layers of beef. This was all sauce and bun. Also, gtfo with requesting a tip for carryout.

Unfortunately I’ve been having troubles with this location. I specifically ask for No Ham each time I order and they don’t seem to understand that. I’ve did pick up orders and there is ham. I don’t eat pork, after bitting into the sandwich I knew something was not right. I talk with Management and they just say well my guys are human they will make mistakes. It’s a constant mistake. How hard is it to read an order. No empathy on their part. And refused to give me a refund. This situation messed up my stomach. What if I was allergic. It’s their job to be more careful. This location is convenient that’s why I order from here but it’s just becoming not okay.

It seems like they forgot to warm my soup up at all, so I didn’t feel safe eating half my meal. I also am assuming there’s something wrong with the online order system, since I chose chicken dumpling (confirmed on the online receipt) but the physical receipt listed potato soup, which is what the cold soup was. Even the oyster crackers were stale.
