Me and my wife came here for lunch. It’s three minutes away from home. We been wanting to come here for a long time. They serve bbq food. The restaurant was hot inside. The bathroom was a mess. We wanted the sampler platter but they had no chicken quarters only wings. We got the brisket, ribs and chicken platter. It comes with pickles , coleslaw and cornbread. We asked if we could get wings since they had no chicken quarters. Or fish. They gave us three wings that were deep fried with no seasoning. Why they don’t smoke the wings, I don’t know. It came with three sauces that were bland and very watery. The brisket was ok, but had very little seasoning and a lot of fat. The ribs were small and also lacked seasoning. The cornbread was dry and old tasting. The pickles were three thinly sliced pieces that just taste like vinegar. The coleslaw had too much mustard. The fries were ok. We had high hopes for this place and love to support local businesses but this food was not good.

Stopped by here on a late weeknight and was pleasantly surprised. The manager and all other staff were very nice and helpful. My wife loved their local brew. We all enjoyed their food and honestly, everything was top-notch. If you don’t mind the prices, you won’t be bothered, because each dish was superb. The best dish was given free, because it was mistakenly made. It’s the one with meat atop french fries. We plan to return.

Was down in the area and thought we’d check it out!

Their beer selection was limited, would’ve liked to see more in-house brews but what I had was good.

The BBQ was quite good. I got the sampler and the brisket had a great smoke ring and was nice and juicy. My only complaint was that it came out cold.

The Chopped chicken was also very flavorful but a bit cold.

The pulled pork was excellent all around (and not cold).

The slaw was good but tasted a bit metallic, like it had been sitting i in a refrigerator for a little too long.

The portions were huge, this seemed like it was intended for 2 people. id like to see a smaller sampler for one on the menu.

The sauces needed work. The hot was a little too hot, and the sweet sauce was a little too tomato forward. No carolina style yellow sauce which was a miss.

The atmosphere was great! Next to a river, a converted service station with a warm and friendly staff!

The food… cold/frozen bread? Not sure what I thought about that. The brisket which was served Saturday only was dry to where I could not finish it. Not your traditional North Carolina slaw. Gave it a try and it was not bad but not used to it!

Their fries were seasoned well and very crispy!
The sauces were not at all amazing. It’s like store bought put into squeeze bottles.

I’d come back and try the night vibe and see how it goes.

TLDR; Hands down some of the best ribs I’ve had in ages. Everything we had was top notch and the service was also wonderful! Shoutout to Sime (hope I spelled that right) great service and vibe!

Tried this place out for date night and was not disappointed. Everything from the service and ribs to the BBQ sauce was outstanding.

Rib plate – fall off the bone excellently seasoned ribs. The meat doesn’t even need any sauce but I did want to try the western sauce and wow, not overly sugary like some BBQ sauces can be. Absolutely delicious. Only added to the flavor of the ribs versus covering them up.

Salt n’ pepper Catfish – boneless filet with a very crispy exterior on a bed of fries and hush puppies. Hush puppies get a 10/10 for me but my partner wasn’t as into them. That was fine cause I ate them all. Crinkle cut fries, can’t go wrong. The fish itself was light and flaky considering it was catfish and the tartar sauce they serve is light and paired well!

Boiled Peanuts – I could have drank that collard sauce it’s in. In fact, my partner had to take it away from me because I did just that towards the end.

Cornbread – a jalapeño cheddar I think with just enough sweetness to keep me coming back.

Sweet tea – phenomenal. Not overly sweet, again this place knows how to season and flavor everything.

Anyways, long story short – I will be back on a Saturday to try their Brisket ASAP.

I went here on a weeknight, around 7 pm. There was no wait for a table. My waitress, Keilley, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food & drink menu. I had a dark beer and a chopped chicken sandwich. The beer was great, the sandwich was ok. It wasn’t the best BBQ I’ve had, and it wasn’t the worst. It didn’t have a lot of flavor, so I doused it in BBQ & hot sauce. The BBQ sauces were good! I tried all 3. I would go back and give it another try bc maybe it was me, or maybe it was an off night for the cook.
It’s a cool, laid-back vibe, and I would go by after work just to hang out and have a beer. It’s a large indoor space, a nice bar, and a good-sized patio. There are picnic tables along the river.

We were here for the first time last night and it was sooo good. The salmon is possibly the best I’ve ever eaten. Rest of the family got the chopped chicken sandwhich which was really good. Wings were amazing! The atmosphere is really cool and the staff were awesome. Be sure and read up about Papa Ray’s Tab…great philosophy. We will definitely be back!

Got to enjoy a sneak peak of Firehawk Brewpub tonight! I have been excited for Firehawk since it was announced.

I can tell you the wait was very much worth it. The staff was incredible and super friendly. The location is beautiful, inside and out. Want to eat inside, out front, out back, down by Dutchman’s creek? No problem.

The main event, the food. Fantastic, superb, amazing, I don’t have enough words to describe the food. I am beyond excited to go back and try the full menu, I will be back and soon.

Living less than 5 minutes away, I already know I am in trouble. This will be a weekly stop for sure!

The BBQ was some of the best I’ve ever had, it didn’t need sauce to be amazing, but the sauce puts it on another level, eastern, western or South Carolina. I tried all 3 at once on a sandwich and that’s the play. The mac and cheese was different than any restaurant I have had. It was super homemade and rich and dang that cheese! The flavor and tenderness of the rib was wow! I have been looking for a place to get great ribs and now I have it. Most places are either too cooked or not great sauce. Firehawk’s ribs both tender and full of flavor!

UPDATE: I WAS CONTACTED BY FIREHAWK YESTERDAY AND WAS IMPRESSED WITH THEIR OFFER TO COMP ANOTHER MEAL. WE WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE OFFER SOON AND I LOOK FORWARD TO CHANGING THIS TO A ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ REVIEW.
My husband and I order out once each week, always on Friday, a no cook night after a long week. I ordered online on the restaurants website. My husband ordered Ribs with 6 bones, slaw, pickled vegetable and cornbread. Ribs had a smoky flavor, which he liked, but were very dry and chewy. The slaw and pickled vegetable were missing and the top layer/crust of the cornbread was like rubber on both orders. My order was missing the greenbean casserole. The french fries were hard and cold. I received a text notification that my order was ready 9 minutes after I ordered (I prepaid and tipped), even though online it said 20-25 minutes. My guess is we got items that had been laying around for awhile. We are so disappointed. We won’t order from here again.

The brisket was fall-apart-in-your-hands good. The fat on it was like butter. The coleslaw had a great cracked pepper flavor to it. While the mac and cheese was not as thick/sturdy as I normally like, it was very tasty. The boiled peanuts were melting in my hands as I cracked the shells open. Our waiter was funny, quick to refill our drinks, and attentive.
