We finally had a full sit-down dinner at Fionn MacCool’s Irish Pub and Restaurant at 145 Hilden Road in Ponte Vedra, Florida, and the moment we walked in, we understood why locals treat this place like a second home. Paul, the owner, was there, greeting regulars by name, and the whole room had that cozy Irish pub energy that feels perfect for a date night, a relaxed dinner with friends, or even an early-evening bite after a long day.

We started with the Onion Rings, and we are calling these Best of the Best because they are fresh cut, hand battered, and honestly, the largest rings we have ever seen, crispy, flavorful, and impossible to stop eating. We also ordered the Reuben Spring Rolls, which are a must, tender corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, rolled and fried into a crunchy, savory bite that tastes like a Reuben in the most fun way.

Then came the star of the night, the Shepherd’s Pie, and we do not say this casually, it is the best shepherd’s pie we have had in restaurants across the country. The plating is beautiful, the crust is light and flaky, and the filling is perfectly blended. The detail that earned our respect is that they make it with lamb, not the ground beef shortcut. This is our Best of the Best Dish, and it is one of those orders you will remember.

We also loved the Irish Boxty (Ha Penny Bridge), a potato pancake folded around corned beef and buttered cabbage in a creamy mustard sauce, and Susan was thrilled with the Pecan Bourbon Salmon served with creamy parmesan risotto and roasted vegetables. Dessert was their warm Irish whiskey cake, finished with a whiskey-and-orange syrup, a fun ending that fit the pub vibe perfectly.

Service was fast, friendly, and welcoming, and the value is strong, especially if you have ever tried their lunch specials. If you are looking for an authentic Irish pub, a great whiskey selection, and a place that feels like a true local favorite, this is it. Check out our photos, and when you go, order the shepherd’s pie.

Wow! My wife and I decided to drive an extr 5 minutes to check out Fionn MacCool’s and I say, it was well worth the drive. I have lived over seas and been to Ireland and Temple Bar… This vibe was right on point. The food, FANTASTIC. Most things are all made in house apparently. They have an are for live music, which we have to come back to see, but the server we had, Riann was a delight. Very informative of the wine selection and the food. We chose to start with the Onion Rings as an appetizer… Holy Onion! These things were not only GRAND in size but also so crunchy (panko). I had the Dubliner sandwich (Amazing Rueben) and my wife had the Salmon. Both dishes were great portions. We had to take half home. But we decided to try to the Cake… Again, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Riann was on point with each recommendation and we look forward to asking her for the next ones to try!!!

This place actually feels like stepping into a pub in Ireland. Well done! The Giant Pretzel and Paddy O’Pickle Back Melt were a delicious pairing. Good customer service and relaxing atmosphere on a weekday evening.

We were a group of 10, made a reservation for Friday at 7pm and were immediately sat when we arrived. The restaurant was full and parties were waiting, so recommend reservations. Our server, Jillian, was amazing, incredibly helpful and kind. We started with the Irish nachos (a must do…mouthwatering delicious!) and pretzel (also spectacular). I had The Strand Wrap, freshest turkey and most flavorful cheddar cheese I’ve had in a long time (the French fries were perfect!). Included are images of what the rest of the party ordered.
The churro waffle for dessert was divine!
They do have live music playing, just too loud for my taste. If you want authentic, amazing Irish food, you need to come by!

Fionn Maccool’s feels like a place that should be great. The atmosphere is lively and it absolutely seems like a fun spot to grab drinks. Unfortunately, our experience eating here was defined almost entirely by the service, and not in a good way.

It was just the two of us and the pub was not busy. Our appetizers arrived before our drinks even though we ordered just wine and a whiskey right away. From there it only got worse. We watched tables that came in after us get quick, attentive service. Dirty plates piling up in front of us and we had to ask for them to be cleared. No one checked on us during the meal and our waters were never refilled. It genuinely felt like we were invisible. The playlist they had going was awesome, then the live music started and it was pretty terrible.

What made it more frustrating was that this seemed isolated to our server. Every other table around us appeared to be getting great, efficient service, which made the difference impossible not to notice.

The food was average at best. The beef stew was fine. The shepherd’s pie was extremely heavy and oddly packed into a large crescent that we did not even touch. The whiskey cake had so much whiskey flavor that it completely overpowered the dessert.

This feels like a solid place to stop in for drinks, but based on this visit, we will not be coming back for food. A 2.5 would feel more accurate, but since that is not an option, this lands at 3 stars.

First time going. Food and service were great. Atmosphere is nice but a bit loud and some areas cramped. The high top chairs are a mixture of styles, most with no backs and some have very small seats.

Amazing food, their fish and chips are absolutely giant, their salmon is cooked perfectly, and a great atmosphere.

They also allow you to make your own beer flight. You get to choose four of any of the beers on the menu for $10 as of the time of writing this review.

The alcohol menu is massive, and with the flight you are able to try as many beers as you want for pretty cheap.

Definitely a good place to eat and get alcohol. The menu is pretty decent as well, they have everything from Shepherd pies to a melt to burgers to fish and traditional Irish meals.

Would definitely recommend coming here.

We went for lunch. My mother got the smashburger. It came with a bacon jam. She wasn’t told that. She very much expressed to the waiter that she didn’t like it and barely touched her burger. He said he didn’t like it himself but a lot of people love it. He didn’t even try to rectify the issue. But the atmosphere was good. Seems like it could be a fun place.

Huge thank you and appreciate to the staff and owner. We were able to be squeezed in for a New Year’s Eve dinner. The food was amazing and I know a lot of work went into the event. We were able to enjoy time with the family, our son an his friends while he was home on leave.
Live music, good food, great memories.
