We started with the Onion Rings, and we are calling these Best of the Best because they are fresh cut, hand battered, and honestly, the largest rings we have ever seen, crispy, flavorful, and impossible to stop eating. We also ordered the Reuben Spring Rolls, which are a must, tender corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, rolled and fried into a crunchy, savory bite that tastes like a Reuben in the most fun way.
Then came the star of the night, the Shepherd’s Pie, and we do not say this casually, it is the best shepherd’s pie we have had in restaurants across the country. The plating is beautiful, the crust is light and flaky, and the filling is perfectly blended. The detail that earned our respect is that they make it with lamb, not the ground beef shortcut. This is our Best of the Best Dish, and it is one of those orders you will remember.
We also loved the Irish Boxty (Ha Penny Bridge), a potato pancake folded around corned beef and buttered cabbage in a creamy mustard sauce, and Susan was thrilled with the Pecan Bourbon Salmon served with creamy parmesan risotto and roasted vegetables. Dessert was their warm Irish whiskey cake, finished with a whiskey-and-orange syrup, a fun ending that fit the pub vibe perfectly.
Service was fast, friendly, and welcoming, and the value is strong, especially if you have ever tried their lunch specials. If you are looking for an authentic Irish pub, a great whiskey selection, and a place that feels like a true local favorite, this is it. Check out our photos, and when you go, order the shepherd’s pie.
The churro waffle for dessert was divine!
They do have live music playing, just too loud for my taste. If you want authentic, amazing Irish food, you need to come by!
It was just the two of us and the pub was not busy. Our appetizers arrived before our drinks even though we ordered just wine and a whiskey right away. From there it only got worse. We watched tables that came in after us get quick, attentive service. Dirty plates piling up in front of us and we had to ask for them to be cleared. No one checked on us during the meal and our waters were never refilled. It genuinely felt like we were invisible. The playlist they had going was awesome, then the live music started and it was pretty terrible.
What made it more frustrating was that this seemed isolated to our server. Every other table around us appeared to be getting great, efficient service, which made the difference impossible not to notice.
The food was average at best. The beef stew was fine. The shepherd’s pie was extremely heavy and oddly packed into a large crescent that we did not even touch. The whiskey cake had so much whiskey flavor that it completely overpowered the dessert.
This feels like a solid place to stop in for drinks, but based on this visit, we will not be coming back for food. A 2.5 would feel more accurate, but since that is not an option, this lands at 3 stars.
They also allow you to make your own beer flight. You get to choose four of any of the beers on the menu for $10 as of the time of writing this review.
The alcohol menu is massive, and with the flight you are able to try as many beers as you want for pretty cheap.
Definitely a good place to eat and get alcohol. The menu is pretty decent as well, they have everything from Shepherd pies to a melt to burgers to fish and traditional Irish meals.
Would definitely recommend coming here.
Live music, good food, great memories.
