Absolutely loved the food and the overall experience. We came here for a quick Friday afternoon lunch, and it turned out to be such a pleasant surprise. It was a beautiful afternoon, and sitting by the window with a water view made it even better.

Our server was very knowledgeable, offered great recommendations, and truly took care of us throughout the meal. The food was outstanding. After a long time, we finally had truly exceptional Italian cuisine.

The bread service featured two large laminated breads with pea flower topping and chickpea butter. A must try. We also ordered the eggplant appetizer, and honestly, it was one of the best dishes we have ever had. It was executed perfectly, with a beautiful balance of flavors where nothing overpowered the other, just a true dance of flavors.

We ordered the vegetarian pasta with wild mushrooms, which was another highlight. It was incredibly well done and an absolute flavor bomb. For dessert, we had the Bombalini, their signature dish. They kindly accommodated us with a non gelatin version, and it was fantastic. We also tried the potatoes, which were delicious.

We ended the meal with a cappuccino, and you can never go wrong with Illy. Overall, an unforgettable dining experience, and we will definitely be back.

Went for Valentine’s Day. Everything was perfect. My Date and I generally don’t seek out Italian restaurants, but we love seafood and found the flavors in every dish to be wildly incredible. The only critique I could have was that the side of potatoes needed a little more salt – but thats a personal preference.
As for the service: couldn’t have been better – very attentive without being intrusive. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and made a perfect recommendation for us.
Being able to watch the kitchen from our seat was also enjoyable. Excellently run.
I highly recommend for date nights, special occasions, or if you just want

My friend and I had an exceptional dining experience on January 17th, 2026 while celebrating her birthday at Fiola Mare. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt refined and welcoming, and every interaction reflected a genuine commitment to excellence. The food was beautifully prepared, thoughtfully presented, and absolutely delicious, with each course reflecting care, quality, and culinary precision.

The manager, chef, and every team member we encountered were professional, attentive, and gracious, creating an experience that felt seamless from start to finish. Our server, Maly D, truly elevated the evening. His service was exceptional, marked by intentional attention, warmth, and an incredible level of care. He was attentive without being intrusive and made sure that I, my friend, and her daughter felt welcomed, comfortable, and celebrated throughout the entire evening.

I am from South Carolina and was visiting specifically to celebrate my friend, and I could not have asked for a better experience. Every detail exceeded our expectations, and this visit added such a meaningful touch to her birthday celebration. This was fine dining at its best, and an experience we will genuinely remember and highly recommend.

My boyfriend and I went to Fiola Mare to celebrate our two-year anniversary, and it was honestly perfect. The service was on another level, everyone was super attentive, friendly, and made us feel really special the whole night. You can tell the chef cares about every little detail, because the food was full of flavor and beautifully prepared.

Everything was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and we felt truly taken care of from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. It was the perfect place for our celebration. Highly recommend!

Despite someone booking my birthday reservation for 12 well in advance, our private room was given to another party. We were split into two tables — not too far apart, but definitely a bit of a walk to mingle with everyone.

That said, the food was amazing! Towards the end of the night, once most tables had cleared, the staff moved us to one large table offering the entire table one of each dessert — which we truly appreciated. Still, given that my reservation (a surprise, booked four weeks in advance) was mishandled, the initial separation was disappointing.

I would possibly revisit again as the food was amazing!

Almost at the end of Restaurant Week, I visited Fiola Mare, the restaurant of Chef Fabio Trabocchi. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere suggested it would be a great experience, and it was. The mushroom cream soup was simply unique, and the salmon was so fresh and perfectly prepared that it melted deliciously in my mouth. This celebration of flavors was capped off with a magnificent apple tart and a chocolate mousse with hazelnut ice cream.
Thanks to the attentive service of the manager, Fred Giacomoni, the experience was elevated to another level. He truly makes you feel like you’re the only table he’s attending to.
Bravo!

Try the Sunday night prix fixe menu: four courses for $85. With the exception of the dessert, one of the very best meals I’ve had in DC and a bargain for the price, with excellent service and surprisingly robust portion sizes. We supplemented with a half dozen oysters (exceptional, $27) and a spinach side dish ($16, rounded out the entree).

The four prix fixe courses for our dinner:
Snapper crudo (exceptional)
Pasta with mussels, lobster and shrimp (exceptional)
Salmon with fennel puree and blood orange (excellent)
Banana and chocolate pound cake (essentially a muffin, exterior was dry; partially redeemed by marscapone cream served on the side, but not on the same level as the rest of the meal)

Cocktails are exceptional, wines by the glass very good, service and setting exceptional. Window tables or outside seating flanking the Potomac are superb. I look forward to another occasion here.

The food was delicious and the restaurant was nice and clean, and the servants were well trained and very nice. The oysters and the sauce were absolutely delicious. But the only bad part was that the pasta and the shrimp. The pasta was sort of uncooked and the shrimp was too salty. Overall I still recommend this restaurant.

This is the best seafood place in DC. I eat seafood every day and fly to Spain/portugal at least twice a year just to eat. (I consider 99% of seafood dishes trash in the U.S.)

And the service is always excellent. I will go back often. At the end, they give free ice cream to kids — and we certainly appreciate your kind gesture! Will be a regular.

Fiola Mare is always a standout. The atmosphere is lively yet elegant, perfect for a night out. Their cocktails are crafted beautifully, and the lobster ravioli is an absolute must—rich, delicate, and memorable. The fish here is consistently super fresh, making every dish feel like it’s just come from the sea. A top-tier dining experience every time.
