Doesn’t look like much and it has more of a bar atmosphere and feel; however, the food was fantastic. The oysters were fresh, the asparagus was amazing, and the garlic potatoes perfect. The fried shrimp was okay, they were medium size, and fried a bit too long. You could tell they were prepared in house and not from a package or frozen though. Overall very surprised and satisfied. You can smoke in the “bar” section of the restaurant or you can sit in the separated nonsmoking section.

Prices were reasonable for a family of 5. Our server was very polite and attentive. The food was good. The shrimp, crawfish and crab dip could have been a little hotter in temp but it was really good. We did not like some of the residual cigarettes smoke we could smell from the bar area in the back room. We also weren’t clear on what door to enter in so we entered through the bar and whoever was at that door replied as if we should have known better. No biggie. We’ll know for next time. All in all, definitely a place I’d visit again.

They don’t believe in garnish. The fresh oysters on a half shell were crisp and sweet but a bit small. The crab legs tasted pretty good. The mushroom stuffed with crab meat with cheese sauce was delicious! The shrimp, easy to peel but had an off taste.

Push past the odor of smoke upon entry and get ready for a seafood delight! Fantastic Blackened Crabcake and asparagus with a side of homemade fried chips far exceeded all expectations of a Dive bars Seafood fare in miles and miles from the Bay! This place surely satisfies even a Gloucester fam! Def recommend!

They allow smoking inside, so be prepared to leave here smelling like an ashtray. The atmosphere isn’t very family friendly, more of a bar type. I’ve never tried the seafood because I would think deep-fried pub food would be the safer choice here. Their pickle fries were the only thing that I enjoyed. I would only recommend coming here to get drunk and eat pickle fries.

Great food & quick service. Good prices on the menu. The food definitely filled us up and the salad bar was a nice plus. Our waiter was kind, refilled our drinks kept everything easy going. Smoking inside allowed. Cool place downtown.

My daughter and I came for lunch on our way up 81 because she was craving a reuben. I got fried oysters. I never thought a dive bar-ish place in Harrisonburg would serve some of the best fried oysters I’ve ever had, but here we are. Vegetable of the day was spaghetti squash in marinara, which was also stellar, and my daughter destroyed her sandwich. There’s a lot of talent working there. I definitely didn’t like walking into a rank, smoking-permitted bar area and then being led to a smoke-free dining room. It was a Sunday and I think the same woman was working the bar and serving. I could tell she was threadbare but did a great job anyway. Bathrooms were acceptable. Atmosphere is very much dive bar but I’m not the arbiter of taste and there’s often a lot to be said for that.

Got glimpse in the kitchen on the way out and I wish I had before I let my child eat here. Kitchen looks like it hasn’t been cleaned for years and the bathrooms were nastier than a gas station bathroom

Food was great. Service was good, no issues. A shame you have to walk thru a smoke filled bar to get seated. Other than that, everything was fine.

I leave this review in hope they will improve.
I am no foodie, or a gourmand, or posses even slightly sophisticated tastes. This place was awful. but for some things I’ll give the benefit of the doubt. But what I do order, I do know what a decent representation of it is.
1. New England Clam Chowder is a specific thing and its ONLY that thing. If you have re-imagined it (like putting cheddar cheese in it which IT NEVER HAS) you should tell the customer. Whatever it was you served WAS NOT New England Clam Chowder.
2. Maybe you had a ton of business due to the big game between JMU ( season opener)and whoever the night/day before, and you fried up of ton of stuff. But you need to clean your oil. Hush puppies are not supposed to be dark crunchy little hard balls. The ones we were served we had to cut open. The mix inside was good but overcooked in dirty oil=BAD!!!!! It also ruined the crab cakes that appeared to be cooked from frozen, which is fine, but the dirty oil tainted them and they were cooked too long.
3. The steak served was low grade, very thin, and was apparently over tenderized or salted or whatever but whatever was served was so over seasoned and way too salty. It was like steak you’d get for steak and eggs at breakfast not at dinner. It was terrible and way over priced by any measure and because it was so thin it could not be cooked properly.
4. Bourbon Salmon. Nice attempt, but when it says “glaze” that has a specific meaning and does not mean “swimming in a pools of the “glaze” Done properly it would have been great but…. Terrible.
5. Move your trash cans so the are not by the front door and the diners have to walk by them to enter.
6. Get a separate entrance so the restaurant people don’t have to go through the smokey and smelly bar.
7. Set it up so diners don’t have to walk through the kitchen to get to the dining room and clean your kitchen its filthy.
8. Wipe down the salt a pepper shakers ours were literally crusty.
In general, perhaps we hoped for too much in getting any kind of sea food so far from the ocean, and but I think you need to choose bar OR restaurant because the restaurant is suffering.
The place should be named Finnigan’s wake. Not Finnigans cove.
The server was ok.
Will not choose this place again. Ever.
