Stopped here for lunch with friends.
Got a table right away and our server/host was friendly and made recommendations and helpful.
Service was quick and food was really good.
The Brussels sprouts, recommended, we all enjoyed them. Everyone loved their smash burgers and the cauliflower one too but was very cheesy and said was delicious. They make their own dressings and fries and we’d come back for sure when back in town.
They had stopped serving breakfast at 2 and the menu looked amazing. A lot of us said we’d have gotten breakfast dish if still offered but the lunch meals were perfect.

Went to dinner with a friend a couple of weeks ago on a snowy night and this was across the street from my hotel. So we walk in and there is only one table with guests. Hatted up the hostess and see the vault door and comment how we love the ambiance of being in an old bank. Apparently you can sit at a private group table behind the vault door. We don’t see it so no pic. We sat down looked over the menu and ordered drinks and I ask the hostess / waitress what her favorite dish was and well she is vegan and doesn’t eat here. Great. So remember we are the second table in the entire restaurant with guest. We order our dinner and get the cherry smoked chicken wings for the appetizer. Dinner comes out and I wait an about 5 minutes and needed another beer and ask the now hostess/ waitress/ bartender what happened to my chicken wings? Oops I forgot, so they come out and not impressed with the rubbery skin. Luckily the dinner was good. I had the braised beef short rib and enjoyed it.
So then we are thinking maybe coffee and dessert…nope waitress comes back and just plops the check and say” whenever your ready” just wow. The service sucks. Don’t you make more money from tips if I keep spending?

Ate brunch at the bar. Bartender was helpful and attentive. Kitchen modified their breakfast sandwich to use a biscuit instead of the English muffin – they said it would fall apart, and it did because it was so tender and delicious. Tasted as good as it looks. And the hash browns tasted better than they look – they were also delicious. And fun that it is an old bank – the safe door is right in the middle of the restaurant!

OK place to eat. Eggs Benedict was passable- English muffin tasted like it was overly processed- kind of a chemical taste. The Hollandaise sauce was gloppy, and yellowish, and tasted more like a cheese sauce. Waitstaff was friendly. Atmosphere is interesting. It appears to be a repurposed bank with some old and mid century fixtures. While it’s not the best meal I’ve ever had, I probably would eat there again.

Atmosphere, service, and food were 10/10 phenomenal! We enjoyed maple cappuccinos, Vermont breakfast tea, eggs Benedict and steak, and spinach sandwich. Everything was to write home about! We especially loved the side salad with our entree. Wasn’t expecting such fresh and delectable food!

My favorite new spot in Montpelier! EVERYTHING was so good—the service, atmosphere, and of course the food! The place looked and felt welcoming from the moment you saw the twinkle lights and autumn decor out front to the candle lighting and historic charm within. I came on a night when The Deviators were playing, a local bluegrass band, so that kicked the Monday blahs out of the way fast. For apps we enjoyed the mushroom pate and burrata. Both amazing starts. Entrees were the bouillabaisse (which I highly recommend—hearty and chock full of shrimp, mussels, scallops, and cod in the best broth I’ve had outside of San Franciso) and the beef tenderloin (also *chef’s kiss*! So tender and comforting with the mashed potatoes, yet sophisticated with the wild mushrooms. We had some mushroom pate left and spooned some of that over the beef which just melted right in). We finished with the sticky toffee pudding and honestly, I wanted to run over and hug whoever created that. I’m not a drinker but they had a fun selection of mocktails, I had a Cran-gria. This was really one of the best dinners I’ve had in town In a long time and I hope Filibuster Cafe keeps on going with these incredible offerings. My new fave spot and I can’t wait to try everything else!

I’ve eaten there twice, I had a coffee and an omelette when I sat down and overnight oats on their take out menu. The omelette was fantastic I love olives and feta cheese and all that! Only regret is not asking for a fruit cup, will next time. You get a large bottle of water and glasses of ice for each person so you don’t have to ask for water mid meal, the bread is baked there and is a nice firm yet chewy consistency I loved. The omelette was cooked perfectly, no running egg in the center and not crispy brown, just a perfect in between that allowed the fillings to show off the dish. I ordered my coffee black which was more rich than bitter I could tell the beans were high quality. It only took 10 minutes to get my order. When I came in for take out I could walk right up to the bar and order! Greeted by a super friendly face and I was given a great bowl of overnight oats with peanut butter and banana! Great breakfast and for how cheap it was, EVEN CHEAPER IF YOU PAY CASH!!! It was an ideal breakfast that I’ll gladly order again.

I hope (and believe) this place will become a longstanding staple in Central VT. They have great food and an objectively unique interior, staff has always been responsive, despite others’ reviews citing otherwise.
It’s not like those places you walk in and understand the vibe immediately. You might have have to look around for a while to take it all in, the mural, the huge safe looking door in the front. Everything feels like seperate parts that during my visits have worked together swimmingly.
I was even surprised by the vast width of options. Simple standards mixed with more in depth meals is one of the best parts of their menu in my opinion. The huevos rancheros were a certified slay.
I found the cafe to be refreshing and you can tell that there is a vision for it.
