We went for the Chef dinner by Chef Chad Hughes on Monday January 15, 2024. The food, atmosphere, and service were impeccable! The food was amazing! Especially the Chilean Sea Bass Salad and Wagyu Salisbury Steak. Chef Hughes did a wonderful presentation before each course and talked to everyone after. I highly recommend this restaurant

Tacos were pretty good but nowhere near worth the price of $14 for 3 small street tacos, add a soda and you’llbe spending 20 bucks for a snack. Carnitas was nice and flavorful, carne asada was under seasoned. The environment at strang is also very unusual bordering on uncomfortable. I would come back if these tacos were $2-3 a piece but as is they are significantly over priced for what you get.

Food was great. First time eating the Corn Cakes, that was surprisingly good. The burrito was excellent, I got it with chicken. You do have a choice of protein for the burrito.

The steak salad was a waste of time. All the ingredients that make it special were sparse- barely there. There was no guacamole as advertised. I requested the bacon be left off and it was on the salad. The lettuce was rotten in places. And lastly the steak is mediocre in quality. $16 for a meal put together as an afterthought. Shame.

Food is way overpriced for quality. The nachos are really good so that’s why they got two stars. I had the 3 tacos – carne asada was okay but dry and somewhat flavorless, hot chicken was very good, and the KC taco is absolutely awful. I thought pork belly burnt ends meant there was anything other than soft, greasy fat – no meat or crisp at all. Other places in strang hall are so good compared to here! The person serving was rude. I tried to get his attention to order several times, but his back was to the counter and he was wearing ear buds. I ended up ordering with the QR code. Then when I brought the taco back he refused to replace it and said pork belly is all fat (not true… it should have meat as well).

The menu looks great, but the food lacks flavor. Also, the wings are advertised as grilled, but they’re actually deep fried and then tossed on the grill for the marks. That’s false advertising and gives the wings a different texture and taste than what one would expect. No, issue when places fry and then grill their wings. Just advertise it that way.

Got the birria quesadilla (not sure why they don’t call it a quesabirria) and it tasted amazing, and was very filling. Personally I prefer a spicy salsa to dip but that’s just a personal preference, the salsa was overall good.

My only problem with Fenix is not being able to choose what to eat. I love the corn cakes, nachos, the birria quesadilla is amazing. I usually get the fish, hot chicken, and the KC taco when I do the pick 3 tacos. Everything is so good, the food is more elevated than your average taco place. The steak salad is also great, it’s hearty enough to satisfy but not too heavy. My dad is obsessed with the burrito.
