as my partner and i entered the restaurant, an employee and a guest(?) were blocking the entrance while having a conversation. we were seated quickly for our 5:00 pm reservation. the restaurant is nicely decorated, and i appreciated the open-concept view of the pasta-making process.
our waiter came to us quickly and asked us if we’ve been here before, and if we had any questions. we settled on two cocktails recommended by the waiter (the clear one, which i ordered, was a bit too strong for me so i switched to the darker one which was more of my preference – lighter, sweeter, and fruitier).
we started off with the foccacia and the squash blossoms, which were both very oily. the foccacia was very soft, cake-like, and flavorful, and the squash blossoms had a bit too much of the ricotta filling on the inside (if that’s something you like then i’d recommend it). it was a little overpowering, and along with the oiliness, made it a tad difficult to eat more than 1. the star of the night was definitely the agrumi (citrus with olives, fennel, mint, and pistachio). the medley of all the flavors together was such a nice and refreshing taste after having the oily items. definitely something i would get again.
the margherita pizza was nice, but it wasn’t the best i’ve ever had. though i really enjoyed the chewiness of the crust. the tagliatelle and the busiatte, both recommended by the waiter and also popular items, was again, nothing special and the flavors were not hitting the spot.
lastly, we ordered a tiramisu, which did not stand out either. but it was still a sweet treat to push down the oiliness of the meal.
we came in to celebrate our anniversary and the staff was very kind to put a candle on the dessert, and bring us two glasses of complementary champagne which was a very nice gesture and addition.
i would want to come again some day to try different items and hopefully change my mind about this place.
The quality and service are definitely there—the staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere is cozy but lively, with a great energy for date night or a special dinner with friends. Overall, Felix is absolutely worth a visit.
First, we ordered the walnut salad. It arrived with absolutely no walnuts. Strangely enough, the table right next to us got the exact same salad at the same time, and theirs was full of walnuts. When I pointed this out, the server apologized and just brought walnuts on the side. At first, I thought it was just a mistake or bad luck.
Then the shrimp (gamberoni) came out—salty but still decent. The real nightmare started after that. We waited 20–30 minutes for our pizza while the table next to us got theirs much faster. We brushed it off, but after finishing the pizza, we ended up waiting another 40 minutes for our pasta. By then, we were furious.
When the pasta finally arrived, it was inedible. It was so salty it actually tasted bitter. It was the kind of salt overload that makes you feel like even in death, your body still wouldn’t decompose. Everyone at the table took one bite and gave up. The pasta texture itself was fine, but serving food like that is disgraceful.
On the outside, the staff put on a smile, but if you’re going to play games with the food, that’s something this restaurant should be ashamed of. Especially since this place was recommended by someone we trust, and they specifically said it wasn’t salty. That makes me believe this wasn’t an accident—it felt deliberate.
And as if that wasn’t enough, when we asked for the check, they brought us the wrong bill. We had ordered four dishes and a glass of wine, but the check showed $440—obviously not ours. Imagine if we hadn’t noticed. So here’s my advice: if you ever dine here, always double-check your bill unless you want to get ripped off.
So thanks for giving us the worst dining experience possible. But here’s a tip: don’t ever do this again. Tourists aren’t stupid. And if this was rooted in discrimination, that only shows your true lack of class.
Nothing fell flat, everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I will definitely come here again when I’m back in LA for work.
Server’s were extremely helpful and kind.
