Unforgettable Fine Dining & Super Bowl Sunday at Favorite Indian Restaurant

From the moment we stepped into Favorite Indian Restaurant in Hayward, we knew tonight would be special. This place elevates classic North Indian and Punjabi cuisine into a fine dining experience with thoughtful presentation and rich, authentic flavors that feel both comforting and celebratory.

We started with delicate vegetable samosas and seekh kebabs — perfectly seasoned and beautifully grilled — setting the stage for what was to come. The real showstoppers were the butter chicken, luxuriously creamy with just the right balance of spices, and the lamb rogan josh, tender and deeply aromatic. Fresh, hand-rolled naan and fragrant basmati rice rounded out the plates, each dish crafted with care and precision.

Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the ambiance struck the right note for a game-day dinner — relaxed, welcoming, and lively as friends chatted and anticipated the big match. Best of all, they had the Super Bowl playing on their TVs, so we could cheer every touchdown and replay right from our table while savoring every bite. It was the perfect blend of sport and fine dining energy.

By halftime, we were already planning our next visit. Whether you’re here for a special dinner, a date night, or a Super Bowl Sunday celebration, this restaurant delivers on both exceptional food and great atmosphere. We left happy, full, and already reminiscing about the incredible meal and thrilling game we enjoyed together

very poor food. don’t be fooled by the reviews. definitely feels they have bought all the 5 star ones. nothing was edible. rice was uncooked, curry was uncooked, side dishes were just masala and nothing else, paneer was hard, every chicken dish tasted the same, fish was ok. only the ice cream was good cuz they probably bought it from some store.

song selection was poor as well. you can see our disappointment and full plates in the photo. if they wanted people to not waste food they should serve edible food

This has been a longtime favorite of ours. The food is consistently good, and the staff is warm and welcoming. Before the pandemic, we used to come here often—especially for the buffet. It was a highlight, and we were disappointed when it went away. Thankfully, it’s back on weekends now.

That said, a few things have changed. Previously, they would bring fresh naan directly to your table, and you could choose the type you wanted. Yes we had to wait for it to arrive but it was nice to have options and get our own naan. Now the naan is part of the buffet line, and we still find ourselves waiting for it to be replenished. It feels like a downgrade in the experience.

Overall, it’s still a decent option for Indian food in Hayward, but in my opinion, the prices are a bit high for the quality. Still, it’s familiar, satisfying, and worth visiting if you’re in the area—especially if you’ve missed that buffet.

The food quality here is outstanding. The butter chicken, lamb biryani, and paneer tikka were full of flavor and perfectly cooked. Even the buffet items tasted like they were made fresh to order. The gulab jamun and rasmalai were the perfect ending. Truly a fine-dining experience.

The best in all the bay! At first, I was scared of trying this place because I get hesitant trying new places, but I really liked the tandoori chicken! The lady who works at the front is really sweet and I enjoyed all the food. The buffet is the best.

By far, the best Indian food I have tasted! Presentation, we were told, was old tradition. I couldn’t eat it all, because we had soooo much! Definitely a must go to spot!
Thank you!

I ordered chicken biryani through the uber app paid $21.84 and I got chicken pilaf.
This was cooked without fried onion and tasted like a chicken khichdi. Who adds peas in biryani ? Even though the quantity was good I couldn’t eat it at all. Far far far away from biryani. Please don’t ruin biryani reputation like this.

Yes! We have been coming here for more than 10 years now. I found this place when I was going to school at Cal State Hayward, aka Cal State East Bay!

Prior to the pandemic, we always come here for their awesome lunch buffet, which they dont have anymore.. except Friday/Saturday dinner buffet (I think).

Generous portions, delicious food and friendly service is all I need.

I was there for the dinner buffet. They had different types of biryani rice, some chicken curries, some vegetable ones, and tandoori chicken, which was probably the best thing I tried. I had a preference for the butter chicken cause the sauce went with the Naan bread. I was hoping and waiting for a while for them to bring out a fresh batch of tandoori chicken, but I wasn’t going to stay that long. The food itself wasn’t boldly spiced, like I usually expect. However, to get that, I imagine you have to order something from the regular menu. A little on the expensive side, but then again, this is California.
