I have never eaten here before today. I am traveling with one other adult and three kids. Stopping was a spur of the moment decision with a big play off. Our waitress was awesome. When we told here that we had no idea what to get, she brought us a plate of the Calabash chicken tenders to try and a huge plate of rolls with cinnamon butter. Everyone was pleased except our little who went with the grilled cheese. Even the kid portions were large and filled up two 11 year old boys who normally eat like they are bottomless pits. A surprise was that drinks were included in the price of the meal, so for one adult and one child it ended up being only about $24. Before reloading the car, everyone took a restroom break. They were very clean and up to date.

Great road side diner option after a long hall. Lovely staff and food feels and tastes like home made. The slaw is out of this world and the fried fish is a massive offering of fried goodness.

I understand being shorthanded and having patience. It took 40 mins to get our drinks. Our waitress was the bartender who ran between tables and the bar so we extended grace knowing she was working her butt off. I asked the host for kids menu and was told wrongly that there was none.

They were out of ground beef, broccoli, green beans and coleslaw. Appetizer never showed up, ordered two soups and only rec’d one, asked for dry ribs with sauce on the side and they came covered in sauce. The mashed potatoes were like a hard ball. My kids actually threw it back and forth to each other. Calabash chicken was dry and tasted like burnt pepper. The chicken fried steak was way overcooked and had very little gravy on it.

The guests at the table next to us left with their plates uneaten. We spent $150+ for nasty food and bad service. We went thru McDonald’s drive thru on the way home.

We had stopped going to Fatz before the pandemic because of the same issues. Read reviews that it was under new management and improved so we gave it another chance. They’ve lost us as customers for good now.

First time here. Food was tasty. I tried a “new” item off the menu which was the grilled salmon with cilantro lime rice…the salmon was great but the rice was hard with little favor. The bbq sauces were all amazing. And the fresh bread they give you are addicting. Overall I would visit again. It was enjoyable.

Don’t let the weathered exterior and outdated decor fool you! Fatz serves good food! I really like the fried green tomatoes, which are served on the best grits I’ve ever had. The ribs that I had this time were so tender that fall off the bone was an understatement. The Calabash chicken is always good, too. And oh, the loaded potato soup! Amazing! Our servers are always polite and friendly. I go every chance I get. The only reason that I didn’t give them five stars is because, seriously, time to fix up the place a little… But again, don’t let that stop you. The food is definitely worth it
Update: went June 2023. Servers were surely, and except for the fried green tomatoes, food wasn’t that good. My Nashville hot chicken tasted like bourbon, and came minus the coleslaw. The cook said it was fine. The ribs were burnt. I will NEVER go to this Fatz again.

Place was quiet when I went. Could have been the reason of the season. Two days after Christmas and I’m back at it. Very clean and the service was quite attentive. Give this place a chance while in Camden. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming .

Never again! Worst place I have ever eaten. This is a picture of the chicken fried steak I was served. It was uneatable. Deep fried to a crisp. The manager cooked me a second one, and it too was very overcooked. The garlic mashed potatoes were unseasoned and tasted instant. The okra was cooked to perfection. How can one thing be so great and the rest just terrible. We won’t be back . One star because the service was very good.

Great food and service! Prices seem a little high but the portions we all got were large and cooked perfect!

Grits were a little to salty. However, the rest of the food was hot and taste great. The food was served in a timely manner, but the waitress was terrible. She spent most of her time talking to a customer. Great price, considering the amount of food I received and a military discount was credited towards my bill.
