I’d guess Beltline Bar and Log Cabin are about as old? Choo Choo? Then Pietros?

Still a favorite for great seafood!

I remember coming in with my Dad beginning over 50 years ago and here i am, still loving the food here. I did stop coming in for a while, when the previous owner lacked in staffing skills, but tried again and things are being done right now. The service is pretty good, the menu options are endless, the prices are reasonable and my Ocean Perch and Gizzards have been cooked and seasoned to perfection consistently.
Keep up the great work!

I would definitely recommend Fat Man’s!

I called ahead specifically because of a previous experience I had with the grease. I asked how fresh the grease was. The young lady who answered asked her boss, who I’m assuming is the owner. He told her that they had just changed it the day before.
When I went in and spent over forty dollars on food, I was very disappointed. The quality did not meet my expectations, especially considering what I was told about the grease being freshly changed. Unfortunately, my experience was not good, and I will not be returning.

Fat Man’s is nothing like it used to be since another change of ownership. Mind you I’ve been eating there since I was a kid.
Ordered 2 Olive Swiss Burgers, 3 wings, and 1/4lb of fried mushrooms. First time trying the burger menu to only be told after I paid that they don’t have olives. So, we substituted for a cheeseburger. By far the nastiest burger I’ve ever had which must of been a frozen patty bc it was mushy and tasted stale, wings were not fried completely, and the fried mushrooms: well let’s just say were not what I expected. Totally disappointing. To top it off we ended up there bc Coney Island up the way was closed.

Fabulous Walleye, Cod, and Cauliflower. If we lived closer, we would come more often. So much to choose from so little room in our tummies. Thank you!!!

We waited for 25 minutes behind 4 other people that came in AFTER us to take home greasy, skin peeling, fried chicken. Our fries were soft and not seasoned AT ALL.

Very disappointed. I live on the complete opposite side of town and came for good food to receive mediocre slop.

Looks gross on the outside but the food was really good. The breading on the fish was the best I’ve ever had. Good tartar sauce too.

We love this place! The fried perch & fries combo was “as good as any I ate in New England” according to my husband, and we just moved here after living there 15 yrs! My olive cheese burger was outstanding. Also very friendly staff. We will be back!

Loved the customer service. Everyone was friendly and establishment is clean. We got ocean perch, gator, frog legs, clam strips, and okra. Everything was fried perfectly and I over did it! They definitely give you plenty

Delicious! So many options to choose from. They bread the fish in different batters and dust them with salt and pepper. I had crab cakes, cod and and catfish. They were all great.

Grand Rapids staple that I was trying for the first time and I was not disappointed! They are doing fried fish right! I tried the walleye and it was great. Not over fried or over battered. Flakey and fresh tasting. The french fries were good too and did not have any fishy flavor, so I’m assuming they keep their oils separate. Either way, can wait to go back and try some different fish.
