Serious Food Safety and Customer Service Concerns
I witnessed a deeply troubling incident at this location that raises serious questions about food safety practices and management oversight. On my way to work one morning, I saw an employee eating directly from the food trays—using his bare hands, repeatedly touching the food that would later be served to customers. This is a clear violation of basic hygiene standards and an unacceptable risk to public health.
I immediately informed the two employees at the front, but they showed no concern and offered no reassurance that the issue would be addressed. When I asked for a manager, I was told none was available.
The following day, I returned to speak with the manager directly, expecting a professional response to a legitimate food‑safety complaint. Instead, the manager was dismissive, rude, and visibly irritated. His tone and attitude made it clear he did not take the situation seriously. When I mentioned that I had not planned to leave a review, he responded with, “Do whatever you want,” which only reinforced the lack of accountability and professionalism.
When a manager demonstrates this level of disregard, it reflects the culture of the entire establishment. If leadership does not prioritize hygiene, customer safety, or respectful communication, it is no surprise that employees feel comfortable handling food in such an unsanitary manner.
For a restaurant that serves a high volume of customers daily, this behavior is not only disappointing—it is dangerous. Food safety is non‑negotiable, and customer concerns should be met with urgency and professionalism, not hostility.

Had an incredible lunch at Farro. I was seriously surprised at how delicious the food was… Wasn’t expecting such incredible flavors from a healthy power bowl, but wow! You can build your own bowl or select the suggested combos from their menu. I went with the Baja, to keep it simple, and it packed amazing flavors! Heirloom rice, avocado, crispy tortilla chips, red peppers, cilantro, roasted sweet potatoes, queso fresco, perfectly cooked salmon, and that lemon vinaigrette! Seriously, I’m ready to go back and my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Outstanding find among so many options in the downtown tunnels. There was a small line but moved super quick, under 2 minutes. Great value for the amount of food, quality ingredients, and outstanding flavors. And it’s healthy! What’s not to like? I wish there was one in my neighborhood where I could have it for dinner – but I guess I’ll settle for it being my new lunch spot!

Built my own bowl online and it was ready on the counter with my name on it upon my arrival. The food itself was decent! Everything tasted fresh and the bowl filled me up more than I thought, would order again if I was in the area.

I definitely enjoyed this Baja Power bowl first time trying Farro and the service was better than expected. The one draw back is the under cooked rice. I also would like to know if every bowl comes templates or could I add extras? Because when I told the server I wanted the Baja Bowl, she made it and I was expecting her to ask if I wanted anything else in it that doesn’t come with it but non the less the bowl had good flavor. I don’t know what the white sauce they put on it but it doesn’t really add much to the bowl and it’s kind of SUS lol

We had Farro within Understory. It was decent but the quinoa was a little hard (it may have been rice but that was over a week ago) and the salmon was dry. Would return to try another option. Service was nice and efficient. I like the concept.

Went here two days in a row when I was in town. Food was fresh and delicious, portions were great and the service was efficient and helpful. It’s in a cool spot that has WiFi and tons of work space.

This was my first visit and very unfamiliar of the products they serve. The line was long so be preparedvto wait at least 10 minuted. Feel rushed in ordering, as it was lunchtime. The menu is easy to read though. You can create your bowl, which is what I did. The food is yummy and so tasty. The serving staff is friendly and helpful, but the cashier was obnoxiously RUDE, to the gentleman after me. The gentleman had asked of the dressings, which one is the healthiest. The cashier man, in a rude tone, says, once you put such and such on it (I didnt understand what he was mentioning), it’s no longer healthy, so it doesn’t matter what dressing you put on it. I think my mouth opened wide. He needs to work on customer service and maybe how to handle stress better. I dont know, but something needed to change. I haven’t decided if I would go back, yet. Although the service for me was good, it would only be a matter of time before I experience his rudeness, possibly. That gentleman didn’t deserve that response. Maybe he was asking for the least caloric dressing, because he knew he had put some things in there that added calories. And by the cashier’s response, he never answered the question. Food for thought.

Tried their Baja Bowl and it was magnificent!! I am not a huge fan of Salmon, but this combination was delightful! Will definitely be getting more lunch from here.
