I ordered the grouper basket because a couple reviews mentioned it, and it was really good. The portion of fish was smaller than I expected, but the flavor was solid and the batter was nice and light. The sides were definitely generous my fries and veggies could’ve fed two people. My friend got the alligator bites and said they were tasty but also on the smaller side. Still, the freshness made up for it.
Service was definitely one of the highlights. The staff is friendly in a very genuine way, not forced or over the top. Our server checked on us often, brought refills without us asking, and made sure everything came out the way we wanted it. Even when it got busy, nobody seemed stressed or rushed.
The only downside was the wait time for food it took a bit longer than we thought it would. But considering everything tasted fresh and the place was full, it’s understandable. Prices are fair too, especially compared to other spots in the area.
Overall, if you’re looking for a local restaurant with hearty food, great staff, and a relaxed vibe, this is definitely worth visiting. I’d come back for breakfast next time because I’ve heard it’s even better.
We were in the area looking for a late breakfast and this place showed up on Apple Maps so we gave it a try. Excellent homemade food and many southern soul food offerings. My wife had a Unsweet Tea ($3.50) that had a great tea flavor. Lots to choose from on the menu, but I had to try the Large Biscuits and Gravy ($8.00). A good size bowl of rich, sausage filled gravy with two warm biscuits on the side. If you want sausage in your gravy, this is the place. No stinginess here. And the biscuits – tall warm stacks of flakey and crumbly goodness with just that hint of salt when you first bite into it. I had one with just butter, the other with jelly. Sooo good. My wife had the Southern Breakfast Skillet ($12.00) with a Sausage Patty add ($2.00). Let’s work our way down from the top. Sausage Gravy atop 2 eggs that sits on top of shredded cheese on top of home fries that are topped with onions, tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, and the sausage patty. Easily shareable and oh so tasty. We saw their pancakes. A half inch thick and the size of a plate! Don’t try to order non-breakfast items before 11:00 – can’t be done. I really wanted to try their Greens. We’re going back.
You won’t find better lemonade. You won’t find better fried tomatoes. You MIGHT find some better country fried steak, but it’ll be tough as all hell. Fries are all nice and curly, so they’re fantastic as well. I got those, fried okra, AND some cornbread with my meal.
Go here. You owe yourself a trip.
Everything from bbq and fried chicken to fried ribs and hamhocks with delicious sides which are great even on their own.
Lots of tables for plenty of seating and fast service for quick turnover, makes for no long waits should they be full when you arrive.
I heard their breakfasts are great too.
