This place is what I consider extremely expensive for nothing special. I had an $18 hamburger that I kind of expected would be a ‘gourmet hamburger’ if one can use that phrase in the same sentence as ‘hamburger’. It was not gourmet. Nothing was wrong with it, but nothing was even remotely special about it. Their menu consists of other ‘fancy’ dishes with high prices to match. Their other food may be better, but regarding the hamburger, I’ve had much, much, better for a similar if not cheaper price. I also have to add that you should definitely not sit outside. There isn’t much of a view and route 9 is about 100 feet away. No matter how nice the day, sit inside and avoid the constant road noise of the cars racing by. Sorry, can’t recommend this place.

Food is somewhere between very good (for stand by fare like burgers) and excellent for the wide range of specials. Everything seem very fresh, which is amazing given how diverse the menu is and the establishment isn’t very big. The views are nice and if you want to sit outside, it’s sunny and treed—although route 9 is right there, so it’s not like you’re out in the country. Making this my go -to place, especially when I have picky guests.

I went for dinner yesterday with a friend. While eating a $35 special-of-the- day dish that our waiter highly recommended, I found something hard in my mouth. It was a small piece of metal from a metal sponge for dishes. I sent the metal piece back to the kitchen in a separate small plate indicating where I had found it. After a while the waiter came to our table and said: “Apologies from the kitchen”. After that he proceeded to ask whether we wanted another drink. We ordered dessert. I am a regular client and thought the house would extend their courtesy somehow after such flaw. We got a $100 bill, no courtesy extended. Not acceptable for the prices and level of cuisine this place praise themselves to offer.

I’m unsure where to start, excited to try a local taste of the Hudson valley my girlfriend and I decided to try this “farm to table” style. We sat down on a very quiet Thursday night. I’ll start with the good.. 1. My gf liked her drink.

I really wanted to like this place but was underwhelmed. The menu looked really good and my husband and I decided to go this past Sunday based on the great reviews. We called two or three days ahead and were easily able to get an early reservation but they advised they were not having brunch because of the college graduations, which we were fine with. Since we had an early reservation, I had no issue parking in the strip of spaces next to the restaurant. Since it was humid, we dined inside. Our server was fantastic, very attentive, friendly and personable and contributed to the experience. We started out with the burrata crostini appetizer which was tasty. It was actually a nice contrast having a thin slice of slightly sweet apple under the cheese. The scallions were good, but the pink peppercorns on top detracted from the flavor of the dish. I understand the approach for contrast (very sweet fig jam, slightly sweet apple, sweet balsamic reduction, cheese) but I didn’t agree that the peppercorns worked. It was a nice appetizer but nothing I couldn’t recreate myself at home. For entrée, I had the pan roasted duck breast. The waitress asked me if mid rare was OK but the duck came out way overcooked and dry. I probably should have sent it back. Everything on the plate tasted good but the meat and asparagus needed salt (duck was nicely seasoned except for salt and being overcooked, mash was delicious). My husband’s burger was cooked properly but also needed salt. My bohemian passion cocktail was fantastic. There were a lot of interesting flavors that worked well together and made a delicious drink (but I like sweet drinks, and it was definitely sweet). My husband’s Results May Cherry was fine, he’s definitely had better old fashioneds and has had higher end bourbon at home. Overall, there was nothing terrible about our meal but also nothing that would make us return.

Had a very good meal of local mushrooms, steak and a shrimp scampi that was the best I’ve ever had.

The food was super yummy. I had the scallops with risotto. But because I was out with my family I was able to taste the roasted chicken, the oysters, and the bowl. We also had the creme brûlée and the chocolate lava cake. Everything was fresh, seasoned well, and the service was on point as well. I will definitely be returning

My family and I absolutely loved Farmers and Chefs. Our waitress, Jessica, was absolutely the best ever. Every dish was perfectly cooked, had amazing flavor, and had great presentation. The brown ale was very tasty, as well as the rosé. The portion sizes were perfect for the price, especially with the scallops and risotto; five huge diver scallops – perfectly cooked and seasoned – on a voluptuous bed of tarragon risotto. Our appetizer, the crab cakes, was immenseful flavorful and the wasabi sauce complimented the dish beautifully. This is definitely a pricier restaurant overall but you absolutely get what you pay for.
