Finally got to try this place after passing by a handful of times. Everything was perfectly smoked, juicy, hot, and flavorful! Asked for some spicy BBQ sauce (so good!) but the meat didn’t even need it. The ribs, burnt ends, and jalapeño creamed corn were our favorites! The brisket itself was very moist and delicious, as well. Probably the best we’ve had in the 4 years I’ve been in Iowa. Not a huge fan of the mac & cheese but that part of the meal is negligible as everything else was wonderful!
They have a food challenge that includes 5 lbs of meat. It’s $80 if you don’t finish it. Honestly, I kind of want to come back and try it…
Cute place. Small, but enough seating. Great staff. Very knowledgeable and skilled at handling meat. They were serving the normal front-of-house with eat-in and to-go orders, a graduation party in the back, AND had just packed their food truck full of food for another event. They are obviously very good at hustling without risking quality! Highly recommend!

Excellent customer service. I ordered 1/2 pound of brisket, 1/2 pound of burnt ends, Mac & Potato salad. The brisket had ZERO bark. It was also dry and kind of tough. The burnt ends were mainly inedible cubes of fat. Mac needs a lot of work. Potato salad wasn’t too bad. Good reviews brought me to Bondurant. Very disappointing.

Probably a very nice family and I know from experience how hard it is to cook consistently good BBQ, but when your better half looks at you and says “you would never put the on a plate and serve it”. Only think good was the beans. Brisket and ribs were bad bad. Right before the farmers market started. I do want to try the tenderloin

Such a great addition to Bondurant’s Main Street! Their food is amazing, they treat you like a guest in their home, and clearly put a lot of care into what they do. Their cornbread is truly the best I’ve had!! The bowls are a great lunch option and my family has enjoyed sharing the sampler to get a taste of their whole spread. I came in with my wild one year old and they were so kind and accommodating, offering extra utensils, giving him a fruit cup and being understanding and helpful with his mess. It means so much to be able to have solid places to take kids – it should be a basic understanding in our world but it really isn’t.
Can’t recommend this place enough! It is definitely a “hole in the wall” but a great one that I hope the community continues to support! As others have mentioned even if it is full their service is prompt and it’s easy to grab and go or order ahead to take to the park, a bench nearby, or the brewery next door. Worth going out of your way to visit!! It will continue to be a staple for us.

I had the combine bowl mac n cheese with there baked beans and brisket on top it was awesome as well. Big portions and prices. Highly recommend. They are also connected to reclaimed rails brewery. We sat in there fenced in patio and enjoyed a beer with our fantastic bbq.

we were referred here by a coworker. who said the food was good. well im sorry to say this was the most unflavored food ive tasted in any restaurant. i had pulled pork sandwich dry the sweet bbq sauce tasted watery and like it had to much vinegar in it. my spouse had ribs dry and rubbery. we both had cokeslaw which was old soggey an did not taste like coleslaw that ive ever had ir made. if this is smoked food someone needs to get a smoker that works or learn how to cook on one as it sure was not juicey or have a smoked flavor at all. to say the least there platters was pricey ans sorry i can get better bbq at home or famour daves and i will never return to this dump.

**UPDATE
DOORDASH refund was due to poor quality, not missing item. Both are in the same selection.
I thought I would try a new bbq place. BIG MISTAKE! I would not call this bbq food. The 2 Meat Dinner with pulled pork, ribs , beans and coleslaw. The pork was salty and burnt flavor. The ribs were mostly fat and no flavor and crusty. The beans tasted like can beans. The coleslaw was good. Cornbread is very dry and tasteless. No sauce at all and no option for sauce on delivery. I will never order from here again.

Before I even get to the food, allow me to say that if I could give 8 stars out of 5 for service, I would. Kaelynn gave a thorough explanation of things, along with some things they’d already ran out of that day, but she was honest to a fault, passionate about the food (definitely a good sign in any restaurant) and very hospitable.
Ordered the 8 oz tenderloin with slaw and smoky mac. Tenderloin was excellent. Well cooked with good breading and spices. Their hot BBQ sauce is NO JOKE. It will burn for several minutes, so unless you love spice, stick to their other two sauces, or get ranch and add it with the hot for a more subdued heat. Slaw was ok; smoky mac was terrific. Will return and recommend.

We ordered the three meat platter of smoked brisket, pulled pork, and ribs, along with the smoky beans and fries. Everything we ate was fabulous and only had a few slices of brisket left over. The service was excellent and the price point was very affordable. The only constructive criticism from our visit would be to install some sort of deterrent to the flies that are attracted to the delicious meats 🙂

I was a bit disappointed with my first visit. More “wasn’t what I expected” than it actually being bad.
I ordered carryout for a Combine Bowl ($15) with pulled pork, Nashville Cake, and half-cut iced tea (thinking they made it).
The pork was good; not life changing by any means, but it wasn’t dry or cooked to mush which I appreciated. I expected more meat in the bowl for the price compared to the amount of mac n cheese and beans. I didn’t really get any smoke flavor in the mac n cheese. They didn’t have any cornbread, which is probably what I was most excited for. The iced tea is bottled Gold Peak, which I was just more surprised than anything else that a BBQ place didn’t make their own tea.
