We ordered the baby back ribs combo and the baby & 1 meat combo. The baby back ribs were drenched in sauce and way too sweet. They were okay, but I probably wouldn’t order them again. With the baby & 1 meat combo, I went with the brisket, and it wasn’t much better than the ribs. The brisket was soggy.
Overall it felt pretty typical of a large chain restaurant. Maybe the food is better straight out of the kitchen. I think the cardboard takeout containers made it worse. The food probably went in piping hot and ended up sweating in the container during delivery.
I started with the pork ribs — amazing! Juicy, smoky, and full of flavor. Couldn’t even make it to the chicken legs — I was so full that I had to take the rest to go (which was nice of them to offer).
The mashed potatoes were incredible — soft, buttery, and creamy, just like the ones my mom used to make back home. The beans were great too, and the corn in sour cream or buttery sauce was just delicious. Even the onion rings were crispy and perfectly golden.
Overall, everything was fresh, tasty, and generously served. Prices were more than fair. If you love good food and hearty portions — this place is a must-try. Highly recommend!
When I picked up the order, all of the trays were handed to me without any bags, stacked in my hands. For a meal at this price point, everything should be properly packaged for transport. I had to use my own reusable bag just to get everything to my car.
Once I got home and opened the food, things got even worse:
The meal was supposed to be served hot, but everything was barely lukewarm.
The green beans had unmelted butter sitting on top — a clear sign they weren’t heated properly.
Multiple pans were not full, including the mashed potatoes, green beans, turkey, brisket, and macaroni and cheese.
The macaroni and cheese was watery with way too much sauce. I actually had to cook extra macaroni and bake it just to make it edible.
The mashed potatoes looked spread thin and barely filled the tray.
The brisket slices were thick and a bit tough; I had to put them in the crock pot to soften.
Nearly every dish required additional cooking, which defeats the purpose of ordering a prepared Thanksgiving meal.
And oddly, the meal came with five cornbread muffins — not six. I’ve never seen a holiday meal sold with five of anything. It felt incomplete and carelessly portioned.
This was meant to save me time on Thanksgiving — instead, it wasted my time. I even drove from Brooklyn to pick this up, expecting convenience and quality. No one should pay over $120 for a holiday meal that arrives lukewarm, under-filled, and poorly prepared.
Between the poor presentation, lack of proper packaging, under-filled trays, extra cooking required, and incomplete cornbread order, this meal was absolutely not worth the price. I would not order a Thanksgiving or holiday meal from Famous Dave’s again.
