Let’s get into this. I ordered the number five, half pound double cheeseburger with fries.
The GOOD: Kaiser bun itself is very nice but little to no toast on the bun works against it. The tomatoes were fresh and they put a decent size and amount on. They used shredded lettuce which I’m not a fan of but it was okay. Probably a little more lettuce would have preferred. Perfect amount of fresh onion. Mayo was pretty much on point and used the typical restaurant style American cheese which was also fine.
The BAD: the quality of the meat is low. This looks like your typical average grade frozen, waffled, quarter pound, 75/25 beef patty. Probably Harvest Value from US Foods would be my best guess. It was overly salted which is mostly what you taste, instead of beef. Not much beef flavor to speak of And bordering on a rubbery consistency in the chew. Not a very good sear on the patties. A hotter flat top and some caramelization on the patties could go a long way towards flavor. They could go so much farther by using either a higher grade frozen meat patty or use fresh, It is 100 times better. As far as burgers go, this could have been so much better, but ruined by over-seasoned, rubbery beef patty.
The fries were crinkle cut and were just fine. I actually applaud that they did not salt them allowing the customer to salt them to preference. I wish more places did this.
All in all this could be so much better if you would put more emphasis on a higher quality beef. Probably will not return.

Visiting friends in Roanoke and picked this restaurant based on internet search, menu choices and reviews. Food was very good, server was excellent. She was attentive and made excellent suggestions.
The fried dough sticks were exceptional . We had Fish and chips and salmon. Both were very good. We Highly recommend this location.

I’ve been going to famous Anthony’s for thirty years, and I’ve always loved it. The staff is always great! But, since the re-opening, the food isn’t the same. Not at all what it used to be.

Since re-opening it leaves a lot to be desired. Prices are high for what you get, I got a grilled cheese with a bowl of chili and this was at 11:30 am the grilled cheese had one piece of cheese on it and the chili was cold sent it back and 17 minutes later another bowl of chili and it was warm on top and cold the rest of the way and the waitress was no help didn’t bother to ask about the second bowl if it was ok or not just said anything else left the check and walked off. If they are going to succeed they need to re-evaluate service, and food.
