Baking is essentially chemistry, and in the right hands, magic. Kathleen of Family Kneads has that special gift. I’ve had the pleasure of ordering thrice, trying 8 different items. Every item was a favorite of one family member or another. My personal favorites: jalapeño and cheddar sourdough, cinnamon rolls and cowboy cookies. The fragrant sourdough had perfect tang with a crackly crust and soft and airy interior. The cinnamon rolls had a pleasing mild sweetness without being dense or cloying. My first foray into cowboy cookies made a cowgirl outta me.
All of this goodness has the added bonus of Kathleen’s enthusiasm, industry, and professionalism. Her husband and children are all part of her wholesome team, which makes supporting hardworking neighbors that much more enjoyable. In a world where sweetness is often considered a deficit, this little mom-and-pop is a much needed reprieve.

We tried this wonderful home baked bread, and goodies and will never go back to store-bought bread again. If you love crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside sourdough you will love this. Just got our first order from Family Knead and everything is amazingly delicious! We tried the 4-item sampler, chocolate chip cookies and they added in a sourdough loaf (which was on my wishlist!) and some granola. So we got to try all the things. My boys had to have it the minute it arrived to our doorstep. Everything tastes amazing! My favorite is the coffee cake and sourdough loaf with some butter. Husband approved huge chocolate chip cookies. I will be trying the bagel and granola for breakfast tomorrow!

The tres leches cake is also DELICIOUS! If you are looking for the best grilled cheese ever or just want an amazing pbj you need to get your loaf here. The jalapeno cheddar is our personal FAVORITE! Paired with some turkey bacon and avocado and you have the best sandwich you have ever tried.

I was so excited when I found out about Kat’s long-fermented sourdough baked goods- besides being delicious and made with high quality ingredients, I believe the long-fermentation provides a health benefit. I can recommend the English Muffins, (a staple in our household), jalapeno cheddar sourdough, regular sourdough batard, rosemary and garlic sourdough, the strawberry scones, the pumpkin scones, the pancake mix, snickerdoodles, sourdough chocolate chip cookies, double chocolate chip biscotti, the coffee macarons (eat immediately!) We mainly order the non sweet items, but have sample the sweets and they, like the breads, have a nice chew factor and flavor, and just the right amount of sweetness for us. Within a day or two of pick-up, I slice any bread and freeze it along with any other goods we are not going to use right away and they keep and thaw beautifully. We are out of the delivery area, but the pickups are organized, and easy. It’s fun to have a trip to pick up our baked goods and see Kat’s smiling face.

The best sourdough I’ve ever had and it’s not even close! Everything looks and smells fantastic! I also have never had an English muffin, that I enjoyed so I got the sampler box just to try it out… and it was DELICIOUS!
