Great meals!
The place is bit small. But it is a very authentic restaurant, not touristy from what I can remember…

Everything we had was delicious and the service was wonderful. We are traveling with two young kids and initially thought we would be turned away but the waitress was super nice and helpful. This is a family restaurant and the chef is the third generation. We thought the waitress was the chef’s mother but she’s actually an employee that’s been working there for 25 years. We ordered the lentil salad, anchovies, steak, and quenelle. We ordered the steak medium but probably should have stuck to medium rare. The praline tart to finish was also excellent and def tasted home made. All in all probably one of our best meals in Lyon.

Nope. Hard pass. This place is not interested in good service for English speaking visitors who try a little French to be respectful. French speaking/locals that came after us got bread and appetizers before us. We got bread with our meal. The waiter spoke pretty good English and we thanked him for that, but he chose to speak quickly in French so not sure what we ended up ordering. We asked for salad and didn’t get one, we ordered three dishes and one was tripe. As for the food, poor quality. The steak was chewy, the beef in mustard sauce was overpowering and the tripe? Well we tried it. The frites were undercooked. We skipped dessert and an apres cocktail and left. It’s unfortunate because a local business highly recommended this place. We’re recommending you avoid it if you’re visiting Lyon. There are too many other options with staff that are far more patient and respectful of tourists. We travel a lot across Europe and North America and this may be one of our worst restaurant experiences ever.

This place was good but I wish I ordered something other than the steak which they are known for. The locals next to us loved their steaks and all four of them finished every bite while my wife and I had about 1/3 left. We asked for them prepared medium (which ranges about from medium rare to rare in the states), which is a little too rare for our tastes but that’s what we expected ordering a steak in France. I think the reason we didn’t love them is because we are used to our juicy steaks in the U.S. I do recommend going to this place if you want to try a steak in France. This place is popular with the locals and it’s small so I would make a reservation. The fries were the best we had on our trip and the salami appetizer was delicious. Our waiter was very nice and knew enough English to explain most of the menu and be friendly.

Amazing, true Lyonnaise experience with the two of us being the only foreign guests on Saturday evening dinner. But that is not the point, the food is amazing, the wine too, and we didn’t have the room for deserts, but I am sure it would have been supreme as well.
