The beef and chicken were incredibly well-seasoned and juicy—so delicious! They also offer plenty of complimentary add-ons for your platter. I asked the owner to choose whatever sauces he recommended for my rice, and all four were amazing. I also topped mine with cucumbers, lettuce, and olives (there’s a huge variety to choose from).
The salad comes with bite-sized pita chips and a fresh, sweet balsamic dressing that’s super refreshing. The hummus is smooth, flavorful, and not overly thick or grainy like at some spots. I can’t remember if pita normally comes with the platter, but I didn’t get any for my hummus—though honestly, everything else was so good I barely noticed! I did use the small pita chips in my salad to eat with the hummus and that combo (pita chips with balsamic vinegarett) was yummy!
Overall, an absolutely fantastic experience. The restaurant is nice and clean with great atmosphere. Staff is professional and kind. Parking is plenty with a couple spaces right infront of the place. This place is a gem tucked in this shopping area. Definitely recommend trying here first if you’re looking for authentic Mediterranean food. I’ll definitely be back!
(1) Tasty food
(2) Large portion size for the platters
Cons:
(1) I think the platter should come with something else, for the amount of sauces you get (like half a pita or something?)
(2) Price for the platter is a bit steep – think I might would go for something like the bowl instead next time
Restuarant offers tasty & delicious authentic Mediterranean food. The flavors were balanced, meat was tender & juicy, sauces were balanced & mango lassi was refreshing.
No wonder the Restaurant has a higher satisfaction by its customers.
Staff is friendly and caring.
Place is well kept, there’s a free parking lot.
I recently visited Falafel Express in Overland Park, Kansas, and I have to say, it was a delightful surprise. I came to the area for work in Lenexa, and one of my coworkers recommended I check this place out. I’m so glad they did!
I ordered a plate that had chicken shawarma and beef kebab served over rice, with a side of salad, hummus, and some really fresh, tasty bread. Everything was delicious. The chicken was tender, the beef was flavorful, and the portions were generous—they even gave me a little extra.
But the real standout was the falafel. They offered me just one falafel to try, and it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had—perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside. It’s rare to find a falafel that good, and it was a wonderful surprise.
What really stood out was the hospitality. The owner and (I think) his wife were extremely kind and welcoming, making the whole experience feel a lot like a meal at a friend’s home.
Overall, if you’re in the area and craving Mediterranean food, I definitely recommend giving Falafel Express a try. It’s a great little spot with delicious food and warm service!
A lot of places get hit with negative reviews, but I feel like people are too quick to judge without actually giving it a fair try. My personal experience was nothing but positive from the quality of the food to the customer service. Everyone was friendly, the service was fast, and the overall vibe was great. I genuinely think more people should give them a chance before forming an opinion. If you’re in KC and craving a good shawarma or Mediterranean food in general, go try Falafel Express for yourself—you might end up loving it just like I did. I’ll definitely be coming back.
I had the chicken shawarma and falafel here, and they were both outstanding — the chicken was super flavorful and juicy, and the falafel was fresh and perfectly seasoned with great texture. The food here easily competes with some of the best Mediterranean spots in the KC area, and the atmosphere is fun and inviting with friendly staff that make dining here a delight. Even the sides and sauces elevated the meal! The French fries (from around KC) we’ve had including here are some of the best in the metro — crispy and perfectly seasoned, a great compliment to the shawarma and falafel. Can’t wait to come back for more!
