Reviews
Pizza is my favorite food, I look forward to my pizza cheat meal each week to try a new spot or an old staple. Based on reviews I was looking forward to this joint. However IMO it doesn’t really live up to the hype. I got a small pepperoni za, chicken wings and fries. All the food I got just tasted like basic, run of the mill food. It reminded me of the food at my high school football games concession stand, or the food you get in a movie theater. Nothing outstanding. The term juvenile comes to mind, I feel like kids under 12 love this stuff because the flavor profile is so bland. The pizza had a TON of cheese, I love cheese but this is too much cheese for a “New York” style pizza. Disclaimer: there is nothing new York style about this pizza. The crust is doughy but bland. I was really surprised to see they hand toss their dough because it certainly doesn’t taste like it. The tendies tasted like Costco brand but just deep fried. The fries are grocery store steak cut. No seasoning or passion at all, in any of the food. None of it was BAD, per se, it just wasn’t really… anything. I mean, I still ate it and I didn’t feel like I wasted my money. It was just forgetable, easy, lazy. Portions are great sized for the price. If you like basic, tame, predictable food, this place will serve your needs.
Extremely personable staff. I don’t mean chatty, just, very warm people to be around. Very efficient as well. It’s a friendly, local place; if you go in there regularly, they’ll remember your order, that sort of thing.
It’s a small place, but full of character, and I like that. They’ve got two or so tables outside but I’ve never used them, I prefer to eat inside.
The cheesecake is STUPID good. Listen. LISTEN. You’re gonna go in there, you’re gonna see the slices of plain cheesecake in their little plastic boxes, and you’re gonna roll your eyes at me. But for real, it is incredible. I love cheesecake, I’ve had it at bakeries, from a store, and I’ve had really, really good homemade cheesecake. Fairlington has my favorite.
I’ve also tried their chocolate cake; my friends and I agreed that it was a step up from most chocolate cake because it didn’t have that overpowering sweetness that a lot of cake does.
For all my time there, I haven’t experimented much with their menu. It suits me to just pop in for a slice of pizza and be on my way. Sometimes I get a cheeseburger.
So, review. It’s good pizza. It’s not insane, they’re not doing anything crazy, if you’re a foodie you probably won’t be impressed. But it’s good, it’s consistent, they bring it out fast, and it’s very reasonably priced. I’ve had it Hawaiian style, but usually go for mushroom and pepperoni. Their slices are very generous, I’ve never left unsatisfied.
Okay, the cheeseburger. Fast, consistent, filling. Burgers are not their thing, they’re a pizza place, and it shows. It’s a basic burger, even a little bland. I, personally, do not mind. I would put Fairlington Pizza in the category of comfort food. I hope this helped y’all know to expect, if I ever branch out in their menu I’ll update with details on other dishes. 🙂
I just had to try their meatballs, so I also got a meatball sub. It was very good, but I have to say it just cannot compete with my family’s recipe which originated from Sicily via gramma. I have worked decades mastering Mom’s particular take on her mom’s recipe. It’s all about the amount of Romano Pecorino. That’s an expensive ingredient.
Lastly, my spouse wanted a tossed salad JUST for their homemade Italian dressing! They’ve been making it for over 30 years. It was just as good today as it’s always been.
Don’t let my comments about their meatballs scare you away. They are soft and tender with a nice outside crust. They taste very good, just not as good as Mom’s. 🙂
When I asked him for the pizzeria owner’s phone number, he refused and replied, “I’ve been here for two years, where were you?” My family and I were shocked. We won’t be going there again. This man scares people with his crazy look.
This man needs a medical examination!
Ordered a pizza some wings and a salad.
Pizza was decent (prob the toppings I chose) 6/10
Sweet red chili wings were really good 8.5/10
Greek salad was also really good! 9/10
Found 2 long hairs in the pizza which really killed the experience for me.
Don’t know if I’ll be back to order from here again.
