Started over 35 years ago as a family-owned and operated business, the story began when the family moved from Texas to Seattle, and decided to start a business making chicken like they used to back home. Lewis and the family saw their mission as simple: Provide fresh & high quality chicken and good homemade side dishes, served with fast and courteous service. In short, Ezell’s Famous Chicken had to be Fresh, Good and Fast! Ezell’s has become a household name in Seattle and developed a loyal following throughout the PNW. This was my first time trying Ezell’s Chicken in Federal Way. The gentleman at the front was incredibly helpful, especially since I wasn’t sure what to order. The meal for two came out to $24, and the chicken itself had a really great taste—crispy and flavorful. The sides, like the corn and macaroni, were just okay—not quite as impressive.
Unfortunately, after I finished my meal and went to the restroom, I was really disappointed to find a strong smell of marijuana inside. A customer appeared to be smoking in there, and it was really off-putting. I hope they implement some kind of smoke detection system so they can keep the environment clean and comfortable.
Overall, I’d give Ezell’s a four-star rating. The food was decent, but the atmosphere and the smoke issue kept it from being a five. I might consider takeout next time.

Ezell’s Famous Chicken in Federal Way truly lives up to the hype. I ordered the spicy chicken tenders combo, and everything was on point. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with just the right amount of heat. The fries were hot and fresh, the roll tasted amazing, and the BBQ sauce was flavorful and satisfying.
The restaurant itself was clean and welcoming, and the staff were friendly, efficient, and made the experience even better. While the prices are slightly high for the portion sizes, the quality of the food definitely makes it worth it—especially when you’re craving authentic, Southern-style fried chicken. I’ll definitely be back!

The chicken is excellent, but what really stood out was the manager working the night shift. He is a tall Hispanic gentleman who was incredibly courteous and full of compassion. His warmth and professionalism elevated the entire experience. Great customer service like that makes people want to come back.

I believe management or owner looks at reviews and responds in a positive way as if to take care of the problem. That’s all it is. Fake post of concern when they don’t really follow up or do anything. No problem for me. I’LL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN.
First time trying Ezelles Fried Chicken. Overall atmosphere was good. Cleaned restaurant. I decided to try this place as they had okra, chicken livers and gizzards. Rare to see on a menu. I ordered the 3 piece chicken, spicy okra and chicken livers. The okra was delicious along with the rolls. The big disappointment was the original chicken and the liver. The cooks must have forgotten the seasoning as there was no flavor. I had to add salt just to give it flavor. Liver has a distinctive taste so at least that had some flavor but that even needed salt. The chicken was $12 and made this overall a disappointing experience especially for the first time trying this store and food restaurant. As you can see in the last picture I didn’t even eat the other 2 pieces of chicken.I just tossed it.

I stopped by tonight for dinner. It was 5.2 stars out of 7. I got the 4 piece chicken half spicy and half regular. The chicken was the highlight of the dinner followed by the rolls. I could have easily got the 2 piece and been full. It comes with 2 sides so I went with mash potatoes and gravy along with the Mac and Cheese. Both were bland as in they tasted in par with school lunch sides. Nothing particularly special about either side and had I skipped them it would have been just as good.
If you’re looking for large portions and some bland sides then youre going to love this place.
I was in the mood for some fried chicken that was better than KFC and this accomplished that. Will I come back? Yes bit I won’t go very far out of my way. I did enjoy the meal. I ended up putting half into a togo container for another day.

The one thing that ezell’s is doing better than all the other chicken places is their chicken strips. I highly recommend them they’re delicious and their chicken is good too. It’s not too greasy and has a nice seasoned flavour. However their sides are terrible. The potato salad was ok but definitely not my favorite as it seems very pickle and dill forward. The Mac and cheese is terrible, It’s pasty and tastes like flour and pepper and .it lacks any flavour even close to cheese. Their mashed potatoes have zero seasoning that even the gravy couldn’t make up for and it’s as if they’re mashed with water and no love. I did enjoy their beans and biscuits but the beans are a bit sweet.
I will definitely be back for their chicken but I’d probably get my sides somewhere else.

I usually get the same thing when I come here 8 piece family meal spicy..Out of the two other Chicken places I eat in Federal Way/Auburn area this restaurant rolls are slightly more tasty to me,as well as the Chicken but not by much..It could be more about location for me since this restaurant is a shorter distance..My only gripe is usually when I order my 8 piece meal and go to pick it up as soon as I walk into the door its like the staff start running and hiding unlike popeyes where they say “Hi welcome to popeyes how can I help u”..?I just wanna walk in grab my order and go..Not yell out for someone to acknowledge me and hand me my order..I definitely will be back to this location soon and popeyes..

So here’s where I have a problem. I showed up about 5 to 10 minutes before closing, now I know that’s frowned upon in the food industry. However I payed 20.00 plus 5 dollars in a tip, and wanted chicken tenders which I got. I also wanted macaroni and cheese which I could not get because well they threw everything away while its still in containers. Thats a waste of money and food. I totally wouldn’t have mind the container that was in the trash because it was still contained in a bowl and lid.
I was hoping for my side dishes and was left disappointed that I couldn’t get it, but was more disappointed that they were throwing everything away.
