Jamie was an incredible server! She had a wonderful attitude and made sure we had a great experience. Thank you Jamie! The food was really good too! We’re from El Paso, TX and it’s our first time in Georgia, and we loved the seafood here! The fried gator is soooo good, and those crab claws were also amazing really worth the money (remember to tip ur servers!) and it was a great experience. Give Jamie a raise!! She’s awesome!

Always great food. The taste and quality of the food is exceptional every time we visit. Taste is always the same. We travel about 50 miles to go to Ezells . Always worth the trip. Thank you for all the years of service and great food.

First time here…had catfish filets, baked potato, cheese grits, 2 waters…$30 ish. Went around 12 on Sunday, not to busy. Lady at the front was not very welcoming, looked as if she couldn’t bother to be at work as she brought us to our table. Our waitress though was very nice and helpful! Place appears run down inside. Food was ok, nothing particularly outstanding. Cheese grits had no flavor, not even a drop of salt, hush puppies were super hot and tasty. One and done is good for me.

Loved the atmosphere, the charm and especially the delicious food. They have many different antique boat motors and trophy fish on the wall. Really cool place. It’s easy to understand how they have been open for almost 40 years. They serve bottomless cole slaw and outstanding hush puppies before and during the meal. Come hungry because the portions are large, we have dinner tonight in to go containers. Highly recommend, the place was packed and the service first class….A+

I had made a reservation for their back room for retirement party 3 weeks ahead of time with the manager and it was put on the schedule. The night of our party which was supposed to start at 4:30, the restaurant received a phone call from another group at 4:00 (that had reservations for another section) stating that their group had additional people in it then they had originally expected. The manager booted us out of the room and put us out into the general population. I had no idea until I got there right after 4:00 to set up for the party. When I confronted him about this change, he shrugged his shoulders and said, “Well they have more people than you.” The night was all but ruined for us because we weren’t able to do some of the activities that we have planned because we were squeezed in and other customers were mixed in with us. I will never frequent that place again that is a terrible way to do business

Overall, every experience I have had when I have had a chance to dine at Ezell’s in my many visits to Columbus has been positive. They do a great job with their fried fish and have decent sides. It is usually a must-stop for me if I am staying or passing through town. However, I have to be critical regarding their hours as they seem to close early and have hours that do not match what is posted on Google and other social media apparatuses and their automated phone message. I can excuse the first instance of showing up when they were “closed” given it was during the COVID-induced labor shortage of late 2021, but when it happens again years later, I feel it is worth mentioning. My advice is to call and check their hours at both the Columbus and Phenix City locations before going, especially if it is late in the evening, near holidays, and on Sundays, also given the time zone differences between both locations.

From the atmosphere, to the customer service to the food – my first experience here was A+.
Ordered the fried oyster dinner and enjoyed every bit of it.
Oysters and hushpuppies were fried to perfection.
Can’t wait to come back to Columbus just to visit!

The best food I’ve ever tasted that required no sauces. I will be back in Columbus, GA. just to eat at Ezell’s.

I had originally left a less than desirable review since the food we ordered was not up to their normal standards however, they immediately called us and apologized and gave us a meal on them to try again.

Today we returned at 1705 we placed the same order. I arrived 20 minutes later when they said it would be ready and waited again an additional 20 minutes to be helped. This time when we received our meal the two tarter sauces were dumped over in the bag. We immediately saw it and informed the waitress. She apologized and came back with the brown bag and folded it over this time. I opened it and there was only one tartar sauce for our large catfish plate. I then asked her for the other tartar sauce ( since it originally had two) and she then told me the meal only comes with one then reluctantly got me the other. We got home and had the exact same negative experience as the first time. Very fishy catfish, everything was soggy, and this time we found random bones in our fried catfish filets (see photos for reference).

I had a lot of hope that our first experience was just a one off since I grew up in mobile eating at Ezells but it does not appear to be the case. Quality control in the kitchen is not happening and staff are not up to par at this location. We will not be back in the future.

Today’s eatery of choice had me and my aunt stopping by the good ol Ezell’s.

Meal: Combo deal 3x Catfish Filets
Grilled seasoned shrimp
Coleslaw
Hush puppies (comes with 5)
Collard Greens
Dessert: Peach Cobbler w/ ice cream

The catfish was fried to absolute perfection! The breading and crunch was magnificent. The seasoned shrimp was just that, seasoned baby! From the coleslaw to the hush puppies, ya’ll already had me coming back! Those were the best hush puppies I’ve ever had! Seasoned is the name of the game with this place! If you made it this far, then you know those collard greens were banging! Peach cobbler is my favorite dessert and Ezell’s got it on the money with the golden flaky crust and sweet peaches The ice cream just made me want to come back
