Evelyn Rose restaurant review in Vienna, VA – Facebook

We went to Evelyn Rose tonight and it was really fantastic. It exceeded our expectations and our expectations were high! I highly recommend it.

Went here on a Sunday night with the Mrs and enjoyed a wonderful meal. We started with the grilled octopus which for $25 was a very small dish. The portion size was very disappointing for the cost especially compared to other places we’ve had it. My wife’s $16 cocktail came in a glass not much bigger than a shot glass which again was too $$$ for what you get. We also ordered the Cavetelli Appetizer and it was SO good I ordered it as my main entree. The wife ordered the Capon chicken dish and it was amazing tho on the small side again. My Cavatelli was so well portioned that I ended up taking half home. Also a quick nod to the brussel sprouts which were amazing! All in all the service and atmosphere were excellent and overall great experience. Just thought the cost didn’t match the portion size on some dishes and exceeded it on others.

This restaurant is top notch for its mouthwatering food from 1st course to last course. We tried their restaurant week menu and all the dishes are amazing. Every dish is decorative and cooked to perfection. All things explained in detail. Our server Tyler is very attentive and friendly. A must try in Vienna if you’re out for a date dinner or celebrate special occasion!!!

10/10 experience. My husband took me for my birthday and everyone at Evelyn Rose made me feel so special. Eliana was an awesome server and made me laugh, as well as offered great recommendations and fast service. The food was SO. GOOD. The tamale was fantastic, the rustic potatoes are a must, the rainbow trout was cooked perfectly and the pirogies had so much flavor. Will be back!

Incredible meal start to finish. Jamon Iberico and spiced pecan was delicious combination. Had the pappardelle pasta entree that was amazing especially paired with the sommeliers Gamay recommendation. They have such a great dessert variety as well.
Mahmood was a great waiter and treated us so well while we celebrated a birthday, even brought out champagne to toast!
It was great to see a slightly younger crowd too, felt less stuffy than Bazins. We will definitely come back!

My wife and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary at Evelyn Rose, and we had a great experince from start to finish. The atmosphere was cozy yet elegant, perfect for any special occasion, and every member of the staff (at least it seemed like it!) Made us feel genuinely welcomed.

We both chose the tasting menu which consisted of creatively and balanced dishes. The kitchen even went out of their way to substitute a course for my wife, which was a thoughtful touch that really stood out to us.

Pictured is the braised short rib and butternut squash tres leches (one of the best desserts I’ve ever had!)

Our dining experience was a major disappointment. We all ordered the tasting menu, which started with a single fried oyster. The second course didn’t arrive until nearly 50 minutes later, and the rest of the dishes continued to come out at an extremely slow pace. It also would have been appreciated if we were asked how we preferred the wagyu cooked. While many people enjoy it rare to medium-rare, it was far too rare for our taste.
Although our server was very friendly and the restaurant was not overly busy due to its small size, the long delays between courses ultimately ruined the experience for us. Additionally, when we asked the hostess about parking specifically whether we could park in the lot around the corner since the garage was full, she was unable to provide any guidance. The dessert, however, was the highlight of the meal and the one bright spot in an otherwise underwhelming experience.

I was very much looking forward to Evelyn Rose based on the reviews I’d read as a restaurant to celebrate a special evening with dear friends.

I had a bit of trouble reaching someone to make my reservation for 7 people (I emailed and had to leave 2 voicemails as well), but I understood that typically they do not book for tables larger than 6 people. I appreciate their flexibility.

The ambiance is gorgeous and the menu is quite interesting.

Unfortunately, the food quality was uneven.

The kangaroo tartare was tasty and complex. The mackerel crudo was MAGNIFICENT. The beet salad was also lovely.

However, the fried green tomatoes were barely edible. The bread was just fine, as were the beef fat fries.

My scallops were cooked beautifully, but the peach utterly disappeared, flavor-wise and the mushy texture was less than appetizing. I heard good things about the burger, ratatouille, and pasta, but no raves.

I was disappointed in dessert, other than the pana cotta everything looked pretty without tasting all that great. The brownie chunks in my brownie sundae were cold, dense bricks.

Our server was lovely and attentive. I saw the manager checking in with all of the tables around us, but he never checked in with us.

I’m not sure if he personally knew all of those other patrons, or if he preferred to avoid a table full of women, but I found that rather odd and off-putting.

I enjoyed my experience overall, which is why I rated this 4 stars (I cannot deny the deliciousness of that crudo, beet salad, and kangaroo). I admire the adventurous nature of the menu. I loved the ambiance.

However, I’m not sure that I will return.

We had such an amazing anniversary dinner at Evelyn Rose! Our server, Ryan, was so kind and helpful — his recommendations were spot on, and he even shared that the red shiso in the Flash Seared Hawaiian Kanpachi came from his grandmother’s backyard, which made the dish extra special. The owner also stopped by a few times to make sure we were having a great evening and even surprised us with champagne to celebrate.

For mains, we tried both pastas (Double Egg Yolk Pappardelle and Whole Milk Ricotta Cavatelli) along with the 42-Day Dry Aged Roseda Farm Ribeye — all were delicious and cooked perfectly. We ended with the Butternut Tres Leches with duck egg ice cream, which was creamy, seasonal, and the perfect way to finish the night.

Incredible food, warm service, and thoughtful touches made this one of our best dining experiences. Highly recommend!

Do not miss this experience if you’re in the area. We happened to come after spending a magnificent afternoon walk at Meadowlark Botanical Garden and just went with the ratings. This is a spectacular find and will become a regular spot for us. Everything from the easy parking and welcoming staff, to the fabulous service that each staff member gave us. The food was on point and did not disappoint. We will be coming back especially for the tasting menu. We had the octopus, then the cavatelli, followed by the un believable halibut and ended with the brownie dessert. Must mention that the pairing we wanted with our main dish was wonderful. Their ciabatta homemade bread was light and fluffy perfect with the olive oil that comes to dip in. Do yourself a favor and make your reservation. It is superb. Thank you to the amazing staff!
