TL;DR: The prices and décor just don’t add up.
Negatives: The interior is all over the place: pink walls, a grey-purple ceiling, and random Chinese decor… for a Spanish restaurant. Portions were a bit stingy — my $16 sangria came out half a glass full. The $39 lobster bisque had 2 small lobster tails but the soup portion was finished in 4 sips. The breadsticks that came with the bisque tasted like white Asian milk toast -way too sweet to be paired with the soup. Also found a hair in our paella — it happens, but still.
Positives: The staff and chefs were friendly. The seafood paella and patatas bravas seemed thoughtfully made and were delicious!

Hidden gem in Half Moon Bay! This is small restaurant owned by a family, one of the owners is the cook. The food looks and tastes very good and service is just the best. We had patata, lobster bisque and shrimps and all three were amazing. Totally must go place while visiting!

I would like to sincerely thank two gentlemen who served us during lunch on 9/26. It was difficult for us to have calm lunch while taking care of the kids who were constantly excited, but they patiently accommodated our needs, and suggested starting with aperitif for the kids, while cooking Paella that takes 35 minutes to be ready. We know that this is an elegant restaurant with piano, and not the place for kids to make noise, but we truly appreciate their patience.
More importantly, Paella and the rest of the food was amazing. One of the gentlemen even gave us suggestions for the rest of the weekend. Thank you so much.

We came here for lunch during our trip to Half Moon Bay and were pleasantly surprised at the service, quality food and atmosphere. The restaurant is run by the nicest people and served up some of the best paella I’ve had. While the menu was a little limited that say, the dishes we ordered (pork belly and paella) were amazing and worth the trip. Highly reccomendation for anyone looking for a place to eat in the area. We will be back again for sure.

On a Friday we opted for a late morning hike along Half Moon Bay and stopped in here for a late lunch. We were the only 2 people in the restaurant. Loved the gluten-free options here. As the paella requires a 30 minute wait we ordered some local beers and a crab-stuffed pepper appetizer and fries. The service was friendly. The seafood paella was so tender which is difficult to do with scallop, shrimp and squid and the saffron and tomato flavor was great. Worth the wait!

We happened to stumble across this restaurant during our little excursion to HMB.
This is the definition of a restaurant that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. The food quality is very good. My only knock is the limited menu and the lack of any salads on the menu. I ordered the Fish & Chips and really enjoyed it. The fish was succulent, not dry at all and the batter was perfect. The fries are really, really good here too!
Service was attentive & responsive. The team was very friendly as well.
The restaurant space is bright, but that’s more due to the pink walls and decor.
This place has a lot of potential!

The food here is brilliant, and you could not find a friendlier staff. This was our second time trying this somewhat hidden gem and we thoroughly enjoyed it on both occasions. The Lobster Bisque is fantastic, the seafood paella was more than worth the wait, and the Pork belly was perfect.

My husband and I love Spain and Spanish food, so we were excited to try their paella when we saw it on Google. We came for lunch and ordered the mixed paella (with clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari and chorizo). I have to say that it was just as good as any of the paella we remember eating in Spain where we made it our mission to find the best paella. Another couple walked in at the same time as us and left because they didn’t want to wait the 35 minutes for their food, but we were so glad we waited! It was fresh, flavorful and piping hot right out of the oven. There was plenty of seafood and meat and the sauce on top was delicious. In addition, the restaurant was clean and the service was excellent—the owner was incredibly kind and friendly and made us feel very welcome. We’ll be back for sure!

I meant to write this review so long ago… We spent a few nights in HMB around Thanksgiving 2021, and this was by far the best meal we enjoyed during our time there. It is truly a gem and we enjoyed every dish: the gambas al ajillo were flavorful and incredibly juicy, the ribs fell off the bone, and the paella was loaded with goodies and reminiscent of my time in Spain.
The owner was wonderful and so kind, and she truly made the meal an incredibly human experience. Evangeline Cuisine is worth going out of your way to enjoy, and we will definitely be back!
