Nothing about this place has changed in 20 years since the last time I was here and I mean that in the best way! We stopped by the haye loft for a light dinner and some key lime pie and left happy. Few things in life are exactly the way you remember, but this experience was exactly what we hoped for. The staff was super friendly as well and brought some toys for my daughter when she was restless as well! Absolutely worth the visit if you are in the area.

We arrived for a Valentine’s Day Dinner special that was $175/pp + tax + 20% tip that was added on top automatically. My boyfriend was so excited about this one – he had great memories having had a dinner here before so we were both looking forward to it. Our experience was however beyond disappointing.

It was a 4-course dinner à la carte style: we chose our options in the beginning. All courses came fast (too fast – once we were finished with one course they have the next one ready in hands. For the place like this and the price you’d expect all courses made personally to order, not just being ready and waiting for it to be taken out). Complimentary sparkling wine was so bitter we couldn’t have more than a few sips. Haven’t had something so cheaply tasting since college.

Before the first course we were served Banana Bread and Butter (why dessert?). I understand it can be a funky take on Bread & Butter but for a historical high end restaurant like this it’s just silly. They did serve warm bread along with the first course though. And thank god they did, because the Chefs Pate had only the driest tiniest toasts imaginable. And giant slices of cucumber and tomato with tiny pieces of red onion. This course was only saved by the bread. Look at the photo: What do you expect me to do with: half a tomato, thick sliced cucumbers, bread that is beyond dry and hard as a rock… what is going on??

Baked Potato Soup was cold (!) and had something like Sargento cheese sprinkled on top – basically a cold grated cheese in a cold soup. 0/10.

Caesar Salad was decent but not fantastic. They say it’s what they’re famous for, which is sad.

I overheard the waiter telling the table nearby that they change the menu every week. Why? Why not perfect an existing menu and work on the presentation and the taste and sourcing the best ingredients. Simply the price has to be justified.

Ceviche was delicious. If we were coming back to Euphemia it’d be for the Ceviche. It was so good.

Quite possibly the worst dish we’ve ever been served in any restaurant was my boyfriend’s main course – the Veal. It’s a saucy thinly sliced meat on top of a pound of half-cooked spaghetti. Everything about it was unappetizing: from the presentation to the aftertaste.

I had the Fillet Mignon for the main course. The presentation itself is pretty embarrassing/sloppy. But overall pretty decent.

The dessert….. you’d expect the dessert to be at least pretty. I don’t recommend the Chocolate Mousse. It was some sort of cheap milk chocolate powder mixed with premade packaged whipped cream. Was surprised the menu had only 4 dessert options considering they have the whole dessert room upstairs with ready-made desserts.

Overall, the service was attentive and the restaurant itself is gorgeous. Never coming back though nor going to recommend this place. I wasn’t the one paying the bill but even I think it was the worst waste of $500. Truly feels like my boyfriend was robbed of his money for trying to do something special for me for Valentine’s Day.

The only positive out of this whole experience was the comedic ride back home recapping how awful it was. This alone is a core memory that my boyfriend and I will never forget.

Great place!! The deserts are next level. We had a piece of pecan pie, peanut butter pie, and probably one of the best apple pie’s I have ever had. Two people could easily split one slice of any of them. Must go to place if you’re in the area.
And the bar is a small, well stocked cool place as well. A lot of options, and great service.

Took my Mom here for her Birthday. Patè and sweet and spicy shrimp did not disappoint! We’ve had the escargot previously and it was also excellent.
Never pass up a chance for an excellent Crispy Half Duck Dinner.
Mixed Seafood creamy peppercorn sauce over seared grouper was loaded with seafood.
Always an excellent meal and good strong drinks.

5 Stars! A Gem of Longboat Key!

Nestled upstairs, The Haye Loft offers a funky and fun atmosphere that stands out as the best vibe on Longboat Key. It’s not just a dining spot; it’s an experience. The desserts, housemade daily, are a bountiful delight with the chocolate cake, peanut butter pie, and brownies deserving a special mention!

The magic of the place is further enhanced by Georgette, who not only provides insightful tours and history of the restaurant but also guides patrons through the tempting dessert options at the dessert bar. The service is nothing short of excellent, carried out by seasoned servers whose tenure spans years, and sometimes, decades. This continuity of staff adds a layer of warmth and familiarity to the service that is rare to find.

In summary, The Haye Loft is not just about great food; it’s about the magical experience that begins the moment you step in. This place should have 5 stars.

We just had a wonderful meal here tonight for our sixth anniversary! The food was excellent as was the amazing service and attention by our server, David L., and the wonderful sous-chef, Josh, who came to the table to discuss our dietary restriction (vegan) and prepared a really special meal for us! It was healthy and delicious, we loved it! Josh also came back at the end to see if we enjoyed it, which is above and beyond for the chef! The ambiance is beautiful, and the service was memorable in the best way… a marked improvement in our dinner experience here compared to previous years. We are so happy we chose to spend our anniversary here! We will definitely be back. Thank you!!

First time back to this restaurant after 2 changes of ownership and it is back on top form. Every dish is superb, most especially the sweetbreads, which are truly exceptional, and the duck – a signature dish. Cosy atmosphere downstairs with bar and dessert room upstairs. Prices are commensurate with quality; expect the best and to pay for it. Corkage fee is $30 for you oeneophiles. Overall, highly recommend.

Took my wife for her birthday. She had the snapper and i had the strip. Both were extremely well prepared and each had a delicious sauce that really elevated the meals. After dinner, you visit upstairs in the loft, the dessert room. They had a piano player taking requests. What a great atmosphere to enjoy your dessert. The dessert selection consists of the most beautiful pies and cakes, you’ll have a difficult time deciding. We would definitely recommend!

My wife and I had returned here for dinner after a few years as we really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was great but that’s the only good thing about it. Everything else has changed . The Pasta was sent back, as it was a child’s portion for $34. (A pound of pasta is $2.50 and their serving 5-6 oz portions? . The bread was served just before dinner and after the old caesar salad they must have have gotten on sale. After I returned the Child’s portion pasta the waitress had an attitude. We still left a 20% tip but We’ll never be going there again.

Old rustic ambience. Food cooked to quality perfection. Veal Marsala must try if you’re a veal fan. Service was impeccable. The restaurant is house made into a restaurant. It’s down a little tiny road. Very interesting. There is a parking lot and barely no sign telling you it’s even a restaurant. On the upper floor of the house there is a bakery that makes homemade desserts, yum. Two separate checks.
We had a very unique experience. We will definitely return in the future.
