Restaurant Review: Eulalie in TriBeCa – The New York Times

This new place in TriBeCa, a successor to the Simone uptown, offers old-fashioned values and an old-fashioned way of taking reservations.

This is a charming French restaurant in Manhattan.
It was extra special because we were there around Christmas time and the owners opened the restaurant up for a couple of extra days around the holidays. They only take reservations over the phone and there are very few tables. The service was extraordinary, and I believe this was driven by both owner philosophy and the small number of tables versus wait staff. One thing I noticed immediately was the distance between tables: : much greater than most New York restaurants. As a result, conversation with your partner was easy and it was very quiet. This is a special event restaurant, and as such commands a premium for the experience. This premium is justified by the quality of the food and the attentive service. Highly recommend.

Eulalie is pure magic. From the moment Tina welcomes you, you’re transported far from the outside world into an evening of true hospitality. Every detail is intentional—from the handwritten menus to the impeccable wine pairings that elevate each course. Chef Chip’s dishes, from the delicate rabbit ravioli to the perfectly cooked steak, are simply sensational. This isn’t just dinner—it’s an experience of elegance, warmth, and flawless execution.

Eulalie immediately became one of those places you just know you’ll keep coming back to. From my very first visit, the hospitality alone set it apart. Incredible old school NY style of warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful without ever feeling forced.

The food and drinks were excellent, but what really sold me was how comfortable and cared-for the entire experience felt. It’s the kind of spot where you relax into the evening instead of watching the clock.

I loved it so much that I made a standing reservation after my first visit and that should say everything. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a place that gets both quality and hospitality right.

Tina and Chip are the aunt and uncle my girlfriend and I never had, and they’re the shining light in our lives. We look forward to our visit every month – it’s what helps us keep going through the rest of the dreary month.

This was genuinely the best dining experience I’ve ever had. It’s like going to your friend’s dinner party who also happens to be a world class chef. Elevated cuisine served unpretentiously by people who obviously love what they do. Huge shoutout to Tina (the chef’s wife who runs the show) and Bennett who delivered the most enthusiastic hospitable service my wife and I have ever received. This place has set the bar insurmountably high. I’m astounded. We will be back as soon as our wallets allow. Bravo!

Eulalie is one of those places I want to keep a secret, but can’t. It’s a special experience.

The menu is hand written in exquisite cursive by Tina, and features a note to take a break from your phone while dining. It’s where I get to wear the dresses sleeping in my closet, the ones I can’t wear anywhere else… because dressing up is encouraged, recognized, appreciated, and healthily complimented.

The food is as exquisite as the setting and the service. Meticulously crafted, seasonal, Chip always has a special or two up his sleeve. Last night it was a pork trotter with pepper vinegar, a souffle served with beets, and a tilefish. But the duck three ways will always be a star in my eyes.

We sealed the meal with the cheese plate full of local selections… who knew Queens made a washed rind like that?

And for the price point ($125 for 4 courses) there is no better deal out there.

We come here for special occasions, because there is no place as special as Eulalie. (No photos of course, because I was actually present for my meal.)

My ONLY disappointment with this place is that it is about to blow up and it will be difficult to get into. The chef’s palette is so sophisticated, the flavors he puts together are both delicate and strong. I cannot say enough about how much we love his food. The front of house truly understands hospitality and how to create an experience. It was our first time there but it felt like we were old friends. It has a strong “neighborhood” vibe, in the very best way. We had the tasting menu with wine pairings. Menu changes regularly so there is always something new to try.

We celebrated a birthday dinner here and overall we really enjoyed the hospitality and food. All the people who serviced our table were super friendly and professional, and the sommelier knows his stuff.

I ordered a wine pairing and I was given more than I could finish. In terms of the food, I liked the scallop appetizer and thought the duck breast entree was decent too. We were also given a few things gratuit for the birthday celebration which we highly appreciated.

It was not a busy night and maybe 6 of the 11 tables were occupied. The service was somewhat slow as we had to wait for 50 mins between the mid course and the entree. All the other tables seem to have gotten their entrees before we got ours.

Lastly, chef Chip came out at the end of the dinner service and stopped by every table except ours to say hello. We felt a little neglected by the chef
