The space is beautiful and has had many lives—like someone else mentioned I would probably only come back for Happy Hour.
The valet attendants took great care of us and made parking effortless. I recommend using the service even when it’s not busy—it’s a great convenience that adds to the overall experience.
Eugene’s offers not just amazing food but also a relaxed atmosphere where you can truly enjoy a conversation without being overwhelmed by loud music. We’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu!
I would quite literally go here just for the happy hour on the fresh oysters. It’s been awhile since we’ve had oysters that reminded us of our time in NOLA, and this place does it right. They are so fresh and plump.
The boudin balls were decent, honestly it could have been a little more crispier. The remoulade was perfect though.
To drink, I got the Ruby’s Prosecco (St. Germain, an ice ball filled with orange juice, muddle berries and mint, then topped with prosecco) it was a light and refreshing cocktail, and as time goes on the ice slowly melts releasing the other flavors.
For our mains, I got the Pecan Crust Rainbow Trout with Asparagus and the Twice Baked Potato. The fish was cooked perfectly, and I loved the Bianca sauce. I thought it complimented it perfectly. My. Husband got the special which I can’t remember if there was a septic name to it but it had some Scallops and topped with Lump Cramb Meat in a light butter sauce. He enjoyed it, but I think he lucked out because he was originally going to order the Ribeye but our waiter told us the specials so he went with the scallops.
Overall, the service was great. It’s a nice little place that gave us a little piece of NOLA without having to travel the extra 5 hours.
Update: one person in our group ordered the salmon. They suffered all night with acid reflux/heartburn leading them to believe them the smoke flavor of the salmon was artificial and sprayed on the fish.
