We came to Et Viola to celebrate my mom’s birthday, and the entire experience was absolutely wonderful. It’s a quaint, cozy French-Belgian spot with so much charm — the kind of place that immediately feels special the moment you walk in.

The service was exceptional from start to finish. Warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.

The food was just as impressive. We started with several appetizers:
• The pâté was incredible — rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced.
• The homemade bread was delicious and fresh.
• The mussels, especially the baked ones, were outstanding.
• The beet salad was a great, bright starter.

For my entrée, I had the tartare, which was incredibly fresh and prepared perfectly. The Belgian fries were spot-on — crispy, light, and perfectly seasoned.

Dessert was also a highlight. Everything we tried was great, and they even brought out a special birthday dessert with a candle for my mom, which made the night feel even more memorable.

Overall, an amazing meal and a truly special experience. Highly recommend Et Viola for anyone looking for a cozy, high-quality French-Belgian dining experience. We’ll definitely be back.

This was my first time to this quaint, welcoming Belgian restaurant in the Palisades area of MacArther Blvd. in NW Washington DC, and it will definitely not be my last. My roommate and I went for Thanksgiving Dinner. The best Thanksgiving I have ever had! Et Voila has an extensive Belgian beer selection and other beers, along with delicious craft cocktails (of course the outstanding bartenders, that day was Dusan, can make pretty much anything you want). Their wine selection is delicious as well. From the moment we walked in we felt very welcomed and like we were “regulars” and immediately felt like we were VIP’s. The menu is a delicious combination of uniquely Belgian and French cuisine. Everything looked so appetizing and delectable. For Thanksgiving they had a few special items for the day. We started with some appetizers. I chose a wonderful country pate, fresh and full of lots of flavors. For my entree I had the Duck Leg with delicious potatoes in a magnificent (I believe) red wine reduction sauce. But what ever it was I couldn’t get enough. The portions were perfect size. My roommate had the Hanger Steak in a scrumptious green peppercorn sauce. Oh and don’t forget the fresh baked breads. We both started with cocktails with our appetizers. And a bottle of wonderful French Sauvignon Blanc Sancerre to accompany our dinner. The French Martini was outstanding, well done Dusan! Our server, Naji, was extremely friendly along with every other server and employee. They all were very attentive and checking to make sure everything was “perfect” from the start to finish of our dinner. I can not end without saying our compliments to the General Manager Sylvain Frances (Manager of the Year 2022 by the Rammy Awards) and of course the Executive Chef Alex Malaise and Chef Owner Alex Pirollo (they have a recipe book available, I would highly recommend it) and Sous Chef Raphael. The restaurant is ADA accessible and very accommodating. Oh I forgot to mention the desserts we had the traditional profiteroles and something called the Floating Island, both delicious. Sorry for such a long review but well worth it!

Our large group enjoyed dinner here. I sat at the high top table with stools with short backs and rings to rest your feet and feasted on 30+ mussels in a mariniere sauce. The mussels were flavorful and plump. The accompanying fries were hot and tasty. Others enjoyed the baked mussels appetizer, redolent with garlic and basil/parsley.

This was our second time here, and our first time in their awesome covered outdoor dining patio. It looks like a can stand from the street, but it’s actually a nice little seating area for 10-12.

I love that there’s a classy indie place like this where I can take my mother-in-law somewhere grown up that has autistic-kids-approved chicken strips and “frites”.

Stopped in on a Saturday around 2 00 pm. Rrght before they close for evening dinner service. The staff was still very accommodating. The food was excellent. Had the beef stew which was so deep in flavors and tender. Also the mussels were fresh. Didn’t know that they offer 1/2 servings because the bowl was full of mussels. Finished with the floating dessert despite being so full, We devoured it all in minutes. Very much enjoyed the meal.

Just a wonderful smallish eatery. We stumbled across this treasure after some shopping nearby. The menu is excellent, food quality is wonderful, and Belgian beer menu is excellent. Service was spot on, no rush, timely clearing and friendly. Will definitely return.

I had the hanger steak. Very good, probably one of the best in DC. I luke it medium and it was pink, yet the fibres were a little charred. Sauce was amazing. The food came out of the kitchen so timely the steak still had a crunch despite being doused in sauce. Just right. Endive soup was also great. Will come back.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Had a colleague and a client along with me for dinner outing. The Belgian inspired menu of items was fantastic. I ordered the escargot as an appetizer, they were delicious. Had the mussels for my entre, they too were outstanding. Service was friendly and attentive. Parking appeared it would be tough so we took a ride share. Prices are a bit elevated so if you’re looking for a cheaper place to eat it may not be for you.

Delish is an understatement. Everything is have had here is excellent. Lots of daily specials depending on the season.

Everything has a unique taste, its not at all out of a box or a frozen then reheated. Food is all made from scratch.

My first visit and it won’t be my last dining at this Belgian restaurant. Isham seated my companion and me and took care of us, along with several other wait staff. I really felt I was in Belgium again, the French onion soup was loaded with onions in a rich broth, topped with the thickest layer of baked cheese I’ve ever had! I chose a draft beer from the long list, a fine accompanying beverage. The Moules Marinière and frites came out, and again, took me back to Belgium! It being my birthday weekend, I was surprised by a little dessert with candle, and Isham sang to me!! A perfect lunch!
