I found a place to get Persian food when I am homesick!! I got the hummus with pita, ghormeh sabzi (herb stew with beef) with Tahdig (crispy rice), beef koobideh skewers and loved it all. The ghormeh sabzi stood out to me. The flavor was so so good. And the crispy rice that came with it was nice and crunchy and such a good pair with the stew. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu! 10/10 recommend!!! Especially if you are wanting a warm and hearty meal on a cold day.

First time at Esther’s though I’ve been meaning to try it for years. We started with the hummus and Turkish coffee. The hummus was one of the best we’ve had and we loved the extra oil drizzle. They provided a lot pita and it would be great to get a bigger serving of the hummus but we enjoyed the rest of the pita and olive oil. The pita was cooked perfectly- a little crispy and soft inside. The Turkish coffee was on the sweet side but robust. We asked about the cucumber yogurt dip. It features mint and one of our friends didn’t eat mint and the owner who waited on us and cooked the food to order offered to make it without mint. It was very refreshing and also served with pita bread. For our entrees we ordered the lamb shank, chicken kabobs, beef koobideh and chicken kabob combo and eggplant beef stew. We all really enjoyed our dishes and they were nice size portions for the money. The chicken was juicy with lots of sumac spices and the stew was very flavorful. The koobideh was a bit dry but had lots of flavor. The lamb was fall off the bone tender. All entrees were served with the fluffiest basmati rice and a grilled tomato. There wasn’t a side vegetable that would have been nice to add. This place was very quaint but no frills. We will be back.

Tasty Persian food! The kabobs were delicious with some authentic dishes like biryani, which were also great and fun to try!

Brought my in-laws here to try some authentic Persian food, and definitely chose the right spot to do it! I was so happy my FIL got to try some high quality lamb shank with baghali polo (had to request this as a substitute for plain white rice). Mr. Reza was so sweet. He was running the show solo and doing it impressively well. Just be patient and mindful that it may just be him working but the wait will all be worth it. The gourmet sabzi was good. Definitely made me feel at home away from home. ♥️

Grabbed lunch at one of my favorite places today Esther’s Persian Cafe, with a friend. Started with the hummus (the best ever), I chose the Ghormeh Sabzi and my friend went for the Gheymeh eggplant.

While waiting for our food we were treated to a new item they are considering putting on the menu, yellow carrot juice. We both gave it a thumbs up and received some great antioxidants for the endeavor. We said that if it doesn’t make the menu, we want the option to order it in the future.

Ended the meal with baklava for myself and my friend went with Turkish coffee. It was a great afternoon to catch up, relax, and enjoy some downtime in a very busy season.

First impressions were quite good! This little gem has some amazing dishes, each packing a huge dose of flavors! The portions were generous when dining in & the price was fair!
The ghormeh sabzi & fesenjan were delicious! The sabzi was herbaceous & very savory. I could eat it often! The fesenjan was full of walnut flavor & sweetness from the pomegranate. The hummus was good, but the mixed pickles were outstanding!
It’s a small location, so don’t expect too fancy. Might be a short wait involved , as when we were there the owner was doing all the jobs alone, but definitely worth it!
We will be back & I would advise to try here soon! The owner was polite & the food was stellar!

Superb! Highly recommended! We ordered the hummus as an appetizer and then I got the gheymey egg plant and my husband got the fesenjan (both came with basmati rice) and all of it was fantastic. The customer service was great, the food arrived warm and quickly, and we will definitely be back. I definitely recommend you give it a try.

Casual table-service restaurant with authentic Persian dishes. The beet salad is good (and normally I’m not a fan), as is the crispy rice. Now I don’t have to drive all the way across St. Louis!

I really liked the food. Just off 2-70 and near DePaul Hospital. Relaxed setting for traditional Persian cuisine.
