Gotta say had a great experience. After visiting Atlantic city hotels looked for breakfast spots in the area and randomly just picked this place and it DID NOT disappoint. From the moment we walked in till we left was greeted by such a lovely and friendly staff. All breakfast meals including our kids pancakes were delicious. 10/10 highly recommend.

My family was raised in this area. We fondly remembered Essl’s and made sure we stopped in for a fabulous breakfast on our recent visit last week. Great memories old and new.

I took my daughter for breakfast here, last Sunday. I expected a wait and was surprised to find only one other table taken. I had an omelet, side of sausage, and my daughter had a combo plate with a little order of a few items, scrambled eggs, French toast, and home fries. I had iced tea, she had water. While everything was ok, not remarkable but just ok. When we left I couldn’t help feeling a little cheated, and still a little hungry. The orders of home fries I thought were small and my sausage was one link. A larger breakfast type, but still surprising that it was only one. The cheated feeling came along with the bill, my single sausage was $6, her water, that almost always is a glass and not on the bill, was $1.25, a.20 cent plastic bottle and my iced tea, in a 10 ounce plastic cup was $5, really? What kind of tea bags do they use? So even though the food was good, no real complaints there except for the tiny size, I did feel a little like I was taken, $50 plus tip,for an unremarkable breakfast and still a little hungry. With so many other options in the area I think I’ll pass on the dugout.
— Thanks for your reply. I did say that it was the larger type sausage, but for $6,,I would expect more. The iced tea could have been $3 I did not have my glasses but I apologize for the mistake, and sir, we just asked for water without asking for bottled as she usually does, first time ever being charged for what anyone would expect to be a glass of water. Finally, if you don’t think I could get a decent breakfast for less than $25 per, I could list many options, but I don’t feel the need to advertise other places on your page. Finally, there was considerably less than 16 ounces in that cup, I would say much closer to 10.

I have never in my life left a review on anything. But this felt like i was being punked. I ordered from Essl’s via doordash and spent $60 including a tip. The Sausage gravy over biscuits I received was chopped up canned sausages(per the chef in the background when I called, and reiterated by the woman on the phone.) in a flavorless white sauce. The woman on the phone said “i dont know what you want me to do. Call doordash for a refund”. So thats exactly what i did. As for the rest of my order, the potatoes are bland, not even salt and pepper added and the scrapple cold and burned. Until they get back to what they used to be i would take my money elsewhere to one of the many breakfast spots in our area. Since I am unable to reply directly to the owner, I suggest they speak with their staff

My bf and I don’t get to go out to breakfast as much as we’d like to… BUT WHEN WE DO…
THIS is the place to go. It’s quaint. It’s clean. The staff makes you feel as though you walked into your grandmama’s house, wondering what took you so long to get there. Most importantly, the food is always delicious. You can tell meals are made to order with fresh ingredients, and they go a step beyond with making it appeal to all your senses.
They’ve just recently, in the past few months, made some really great updates. Enough to make it feel a bit updated, but not so much that it loses that homey feeling we all love when eating our favorite pancakes totally drenched in syrup.
To me, this place checks all the boxes and, in at time, when going out to eat is almost ALWAYS unsatisfying, it’s awesome to know that our little area has Essl’s to go to that you can count on.

And when you’re there, remember to look at their specials, as well as their “Baked Goods” shelf!

It’s been so long since I’ve been by, and I know the food is so good so I wanted to bring my partner. We instantly sat down and were greeted. The waitress knew everyone’s names and I was a little jealous of how homey it must have felt for them, but I was piggy backing off of it. She was so so busy, but the food came out quick! It was very delicious and the price is pretty fair. They take card and cash. If you’re visiting or a local, you must go! It’s a little gem.

It’s a small, intimate place. You probably aren’t going to be able to do a 10+ top table, but for an intimate breakfast for two or three, fantastic.
I loved the pancakes! I make my own pancakes from scratch and theirs are better. Much better. I got the cinnamon bun pancakes and my family was asking me for bites. I’m glad I got the three stack.
The waitresses were full of life and hilarious. I enjoyed their company.
If I ever find myself in Atlantic City again, I’d love to visit again to study their pancake making secrets.
