Theres a cut robot that goes around, everything taste fresh and it’s large and clean but I think it’s a bit overpriced and the food isn’t as good as the china buffet in Brattleboro.
After 15 to 20 minutes of eating the lady placed down the check. I felt rushed.
Nice for the family but I would pass this one. It’s okay if you are up north and need a buffet in a pinch.
The staff didn’t seem interested in customer service at all—almost like they didn’t care if you ate or left. The cashier, in particular, could use a lesson in customer service. A polite and smiling face during business hours would go a long way instead of the rude attitude we encountered.
Overall, the experience didn’t meet expectations, especially for the price we paid.
One thing to note is that gratuity is automatically included on all orders, including take-out orders. So the price you actually pay is about 18% higher than what’s advertised. I think most people are accustomed to tipping when they go out to eat, but the restaurant still should have been more up front about the pricing instead of springing it on people after they’ve already eaten.
Everything is delicious and the staff is super nice.
The bathrooms are clean and cute in a cartoonish Asian way.
The variety of the buffet was excellent with seafood, sushi, the fruit wasn’t fermented, the desserts actually taste like they’re supposed to and ice cream reminds me of Grandma’s homemade ice cream.
Formal Complaint – Unauthorized Gratuity Charge on July 20, 2025
Dear Management of Grand Buffet,
I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding my visit to your restaurant on July 20, 2025, at approximately 6:03 PM, as shown on the attached receipt.
Upon entry, I saw that the clearly posted dine-in price for an Adult Buffet was $16.99. I also confirmed that I would not be ordering any drinks and specifically asked your staff not to include any gratuity in my bill.
Despite this, I was charged a total of $21.75, which indicates that gratuity (approximately 18%) and tax were added to my bill without my consent and without being itemized or transparently presented on the receipt.
Although there is a small printed note at the bottom of the menu board stating that “an 18% gratuity will be added,” this message is not prominently visible, and it was never mentioned verbally by staff. More importantly, I had explicitly stated that I did not want gratuity included — and that choice should have been respected.
I would like to emphasize that gratuity is a voluntary tip, and under normal business practice in the United States, it is the customer’s decision whether or not to leave a tip — especially in buffet-style restaurants. Automatically adding a tip, even after a clear objection, is misleading, unethical, and potentially unlawful under consumer protection guidelines.
I am requesting:
1. A formal explanation of why gratuity was added after I declined it.
2. A refund of the unauthorized gratuity portion.
3. That your restaurant clearly and verbally informs customers about any automatic gratuity in the future.
4. That gratuity remains optional unless required for large parties and clearly disclosed before payment.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope your team takes this seriously and ensures more transparent and respectful practices going forward.
Sincerely,
Customer on July 20, 2025
What frustrated us the most was that at no point were we informed—through any means—that such a mandatory charge existed. This policy was not written on the small blackboard at the restaurant entrance, nor did the servers show us the menu with this information. There were no signs, no verbal notice, nothing. We felt completely blindsided by this policy.
Even if we had to accept the 18% charge as unfortunate, the cashier’s attitude was still a major issue. Given the quality of the food, we expected a much better level of customer service. It’s unfortunate that we didn’t take more time to review the feedback from previous customers before visiting.
