Enjoyed our meal. Mistake was made in our order but it was quickly resolved. In fact they gave us a free dessert. Old fashion customer service. Much appreciated. Will be back. Found our Southern food fix spot.

The service was friendly and they knew their cuisine.
The food was amazing, savory, and tender.
the portions were very generous to say the least.
All in all this restaurant has the potential to be your new favorite after one meal

Wish they were closer to Yuba City bc the food is just AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! First time trying southern food. The portions are so HUGE that we had leftovers for the next day! The oxtail, fried chicken and meatloaf was cooked to perfection. The Smothered chicken was slightly salty but still good. Mashed potatoes and corn bread were the best but I think they forgot to add corn bread to each plate (ordered takeout) only one of our plates had the corn bread, which is fine. We had ordered extra corn bread which was enough for a family of 6. The Mac and cheese was one of my favorites, so yummy. I will definitely come back when I’m craving some more Southern food!

Visiting from out of town and stopped by for Sunday dinner. All of the sides were warmed up and over cooked. I came to this restaurant based on the pictures here. Nothing looked or tasted fresh other than the fried chicken, which ended up being under cooked, bloody.

Definitely enjoyed the atmosphere and the service more than the food. The cook was very nice and working hard. The cashier was a very sweet girl, and she was checking in on everyone. There wasnt too many people dining in. The food just was not satisfying.
The corn bread and the can soda were the best part of the meal!!
The fish, greens, and potatoe salad all had a weird taste or, like something was just missing. Mac and cheese tasted like it was just warmed up and had been sitting out for a while. The yam was not sweet at all. The quantity was good but the quality of the food was off.
For someone who doesn’t know southern food, this is good but very disappointing for someone who really knows soul food.

This place has delicious soul food, and I’m so glad it’s so close (as opposed to driving completely out of town). The chef used to work at a restaurant/lounge in Sacramento called The Plantation and he has brought his love of cooking to Olivehurst for us to enjoy! Everything was served fresh and piping hot, and included a side of cake-like (but not too sweet) cornbread. I ordered the smothered chicken wings, greens, and macaroni & cheese. The seasoning in each dish was good, and the macaroni & cheese was creamy and on point. My husband ordered the ox tails, red beans & rice, fried cabbage, and a side of fried catfish. His meal was excellent as well. The portion sizes do not disappoint, and we most definitely had to get to-go boxes. For desert we ordered banana pudding and caramel cake. Both were delicious – the only thing I would change about the pudding is adding banana slices into it. In a nutshell, we most definitely will be returning!

Reasonably priced food for the amount you get. I got fried catfish with fried cabbage and mashed potatoes and gravy with their cornbread. Everything is absolutely delicious. Will definitely make this place a regular for me and my family. The woman was super sweet and great customer service. Thank you so much

Best Soul Food I have had in a long time. The service was amazing. Wonderful place to have a sit down meal with family. Which is exactly what I did. Thank you so much to the entire staff for the wonderful food and service. For that down home comfort food experience. This is definitely the place to visit. And trust me I look forward to stopping by again and again . The menu has something for everyone. Enjoy!

I have ALWAYS been delighted with the scrumptious taste and ample portions at Erma Jean’s. NOBODY makes better greens than Drake! Everything is made with love and from real, fresh ingredients. PLEASE stop by and try this spectacular southern cooking! Don’t forget dessert!

This hole-in-the-wall eatery, located way off the beaten path, serves up one of the best southern homestyle cooking on this side of the Mississippi. We accidentally stumbled onto this place while out shopping for the 4th of July fireworks. Ray (owner/cook) was grilling large racks of ribs in the back of the restaurant when I walked up. Inside, the place looked like a raggedy old shack, but the food was to die for.
We ordered “southern chicken fried steak,” “barbecue ribs,” and “catfish.” Oh man, each portion was so large that it could have fed 2 people easily. The chicken fried steak was layered with beefsteak (instead of being pounded thinly to 1/2 inch), covered in dark brown gravy. The ribs were perfectly smoked and smothered with homemade sweet bbq sauce. And the catfish was really crispy on the outside while being tender and moist on the inside. We left the place stuffed and overwhelmed with all the leftovers we had to carry home. The price for each plate was more than reasonable, between $11 to $13 dollars a plate. It could have easily been $20-$22 dollars a plate elsewhere. We’ll be back.
