Since they opened they have been my go to coffee shop in Sonoma. The customer service is always exceptional. The store is always very clean and presentable. The drinks always come out just the way I order it, and they always exceed my expectations. I highly recommend anyone checking this new place out.

One of the best places for coffee . Love the staff and management. Not sure about the bad reviews. Because for a busy coffee shop they keep up just fine. Also they have the best vanilla syrup ever!!! Happily drive there every week to show my support.

So wonderful to have such a great local chain coffee shop inching ever closer to petaluma. The mocha was rich and very chocolaty. Swung by on Saturday afternoon and didn’t have to wait more than 5 minutes or so for my drink. Kudos. Keep at the grind.

Love this new coffee shop! Tasty coffee & treats, welcoming staff and atmosphere!
I especially loved the house made flavor of the habibti latte and the yummy frittata sandwich, and I tried a pour over that had an amazing depth of flavor! I recommend their high quality bags of coffee beans as well!!

Really nice coffee, I got an oat milk mocha and it was so smooth and rich! The staff were polite, if a little cold. Not necessarily my go-to, but definitely a coffee shop I’d visit again.

Update – December 8, 2025
After my original review, I received a thoughtful and sincere response from Tina on the leadership team. She addressed my concerns directly, explained the steps they’re taking to improve training and consistency, and took clear ownership of the issues I experienced. I appreciated the professionalism and genuine care in her message. That level of engagement is rare and worth acknowledging, so I wanted to reflect that here.

Original Review:
I’ve visited Ecuador Coffee three times since they opened, hoping each visit would show improvement or help me find a drink I really enjoyed. Unfortunately, the experience has been consistently underwhelming, especially considering the premium pricing.

On my most recent visit, I paid extra for adjustments to my drink, but it still didn’t come out as ordered. I watched the barista working through the ticket, and it looked like she was confused or the ordering system wasn’t clear. I don’t fault her personally because this seems more like an issue of training or oversight. Still, when you are paying close to nine dollars for a small coffee and the customization is wrong, it is frustrating. There isn’t much recourse once you leave the shop besides going back, which often isn’t practical.

The café itself is small and feels a bit cramped as currently laid out. With so many well-established options in Sonoma, including Starbucks, Peet’s, and several local shops, it is important for a new business to stand out. Right now, Ecuador Coffee’s drinks are not noticeably better, only noticeably more expensive.

I want to be generous to new businesses, and I understand owners try to keep costs down. However, when staff are very new and still learning, the quality gap becomes obvious. Early on, it would help for the owners to be more hands-on with training and consistency. First impressions matter, and customers paying top-tier prices expect reliable preparation and solid execution.

After three visits, I don’t see a strong reason to return at this point.

I ordered an oat milk latte but was given a regular milk latte instead, and it took about 10 minutes to get my drink. The place was very busy, and while the staff were doing their best to keep things moving, it still felt disorganized. There weren’t even tables set up, so there were very few places to sit — more like a quick pit stop than the comfortable vibe other Equator locations usually have. To make matters worse, there was a hair in my wife’s cup of coffee.

The main reason for the one star, though, is the coffee itself — the milk completely overpowered the espresso. My oat milk latte tasted more like a cup of steamed whole milk with a coffee essence. Really disappointing overall.
