Sushi was fresh and they had so many good options. Great place for seafood lovers but they have burgers and steaks as well as vegetarian options!! Seems like a good dinner spot for gatherings as well since I saw a lot of bigger groups. Seems a lil chaotic walking in but food came out quick and perfectly made.
Before coming, I specifically called to confirm that the patio was pet friendly. I was clearly told yes. We made the decision to come based on that information.
We were seated on the patio and were the only guests out there. The server approached, took our order, and everything was completely normal. When she came back with our drinks, she commented on my dog’s breed and asked if he was a chow. I said yes, and as any responsible dog owner would, I simply let her know that he is standoffish with strangers — not because he was doing anything wrong, but because I don’t allow people to pet him unless I’m sure everyone is comfortable.
At no point did my dog react to anyone. Even when the server reached over the table directly above him, he remained completely calm and unfazed. He sat quietly under the table the entire time. We were the only people on the patio. There was no disturbance, no issue, nothing. My dog is very well trained & would not bring him in public if I wasn’t comfortable.
Then a woman who I believe was the host came over and said she was the one who answered the phone. She told us she had just been informed by “higher ups” that they are actually not dog friendly and, because he was “unfriendly,” we would need to get our order to go and leave.
I was honestly speechless.
We called ahead to avoid exactly this situation. We were told yes. My dog was behaving perfectly. We were the only table outside. And yet we were asked to leave in a way that felt humiliating and personal.
We were so embarrassed and uncomfortable that we canceled our order on the spot. After already being told we had to leave and canceling our food, the server still brought a drink out to the table, which only added to the confusion.
We then drove to the downtown location to double-check the policy. They immediately confirmed they are pet friendly. We dined there without a single issue. My dog went straight under the table and was so well-behaved that the server asked if we even had a dog because he didn’t notice him. Even when another table sat directly next to us, within arm’s reach, my dog remained calm and unbothered. The manager there was kind, professional, and welcoming.
That experience proved this was not about behavior. It was not about policy. It felt like a personal decision made at the Hyde Park location.
I believe Rachel was the manager on duty. If this was her call, it was handled in an incredibly insensitive and unprofessional way. This entire situation was embarrassing, unnecessary, and honestly sad.
I have been coming to for years. After how we were treated, I will never return to the Hyde Park location.
The first pictures are us on the EMPTY patio we were asked to leave from. Than us at the downtown location with strangers in arms reach of my dog who was completely unfazed. This left such a bad taste in my mouth.. whatever the personal issue was I hope you all can figure it out!!
Dining at E & O is consistently a pleasure. It offers a sophisticated take on Asian cuisine, masterfully blending flavors from both land and sea.
The menu strikes a perfect balance: the lamb chops are exceptional—cooked to perfection and rich in flavor—while their sushi selection remains top-tier. For those who enjoy seafood, the lobster and prawn rice dishes are absolute standouts and highly recommended.
Whether you are looking for a refined “Asian-revisited” experience or a creative blend of meat and fish, this spot never disappoints.
