I was excited to try food from this restaurant, especially being from NY. I went to eat my tostones and nearly broke a tooth. This picture does not do it justice. They are extremely old and over cooked. (Probably reheated multiple times) Absolutely horrible! I am very disappointed.

I do not recommend this place. The food was terrible. Where do I begin. The quesadillas took over 30 mins to prepare just to be paper thin and have absolutely no flavor . The empanada were excessively greasy. By the time the food made it home the bag was completely saturated. The beef was overly seasoned it was hard to enjoy. Now the bola de papa was the worst. Not only was the outside completely overcooked. They forgot to stuff it with meat!!!!!!!!!! Never again. $55 down the drain on terrible food!!!!

I came here today because I was craving empanadas King’s empanadas are honestly some of the best in the area, easily a 9/10. That’s why this experience was so disappointing.
I came on a Tuesday afternoon, and it was NOT what I expected at all. The lady working had zero customer service. No greeting, no smile, on her phone the entire time, handing out orders with no care or attention. On top of that, there were no empanadas ready everything was empty. I’m being realistic and honest here because I’ve been a loyal King’s customer for a long time. This is not the standard I’m used to from this place.
Respectfully, something needs to be done. Customer service matters just as much as the food. All customers ask for is good food and a simple smile. Right now, this experience was a big letdown.

Absolutely loved the shrimp and chicken empanadas and will get more asap. I was with a few people who all ordered various types and not one complaint about any of them. They have other extremely good choices for food which I will try next time. The place was extremely clean and the employee working was very nice and helped with anything and everything. Highly recommend trying anything off the menu as I’m sure it will be good…

The girl at the front tried to steal my birthday present. I left it on a table last night on accident, and when we called today to ask she just hung up. I called two more times and she hung up without saying anything at all both times, not even the usual empanada king line. My friend went to the store to ask if she had the gift and she pretended not to know English. She eventually gave my friend my gift but the entire interaction was baffling to say the least. Who steals a gift 4 days before Christmas?

The food at Empanada King is overall great, but this particular order and service wasn’t. Yesterday, 09/28/25, my parents ordered a set of chicken empanadas and only chicken; it was for a family gathering later that evening. When my mom was sharing them out she cracked open all to make sure, and there was beef… We specifically wanted chicken a member of the family is allergic to beef and it so happens to also go against our religion. We prefer not to have beef. When I called the shop for a manager to explain that and ask why would your employee substitute without saying anything?? the lady who answered hung up and wouldn’t pick up again… I would like to have this resolved and receive compensation, because I think I would still eat at Empanada King.
EDIT: Called again and finally got an answer. I talked with the same lady, all she did was listen and hang up. didn’t take my calls afterwards. Personally, I won’t be going back now. Whatever my parents do is up to them, but I won’t be eating food from here.

I ordered GrubHub from here and it was really good. I wanted to try a few things so I got a variety of empanadas.
My favorite was the chicken and cheese empanada, but I also really liked the ham and cheese empanada.

Fantastic food! Not always easy to get through by phone but worth the wait! There was a minor mistake in my order (soft shell instead of hard shell) and the girls were very nice & and made the change no problem. Extremely clean as well which I appreciate. They also have new place within the restaurant for protein shakes, turmeric shots and other wellness smoothies, drinks. Love it

Staff is Amazing but their food? Even better 🙂 If you need something quick to eat & stay full or need a party platter come HERE! Empanada king has been my go2 food for about 2 years now & I don’t get tired of them! Love that they opened up this Scranton location because I’m always here! Would definitely recommend to come to Scranton just for them!
